To paraphrase Emile Coue, the famous French psychotherapist, the Hillside Inn, every time my wife and I stay there, in every way, just keeps getting better and better.

As we drive around the bend of highway 42 and see the Inn and all its charm overlooking the water with its sweeping panorama of porch and decks we know we have arrived at what is surely the finest B&B in the US.

We can hardly wait to enter the warm and inviting but elegant, yet cozy, main floor with its splendid living room, ever so comfortable den and its formal (only in a spatial sense for casual attire is the Inn's dress code) dining room. Each time we visit the Inn we cannot help but marvel at the exquisite way in which it is decorated yet in such a way that comfort is never compromised nor forgotten.

Ah! But the best is yet to come. We are greeted by Clare and Jim Webb, clearly the pattern from which all Innkeepers should be cut as they personify warmth, friendliness, the desire to please and an attitude of always making sure one's creature comforts are more than satisfied.

After chatting with the Webbs we go upstairs to our room; truthfully, it is hardly a room. A palace is more like it for from the room decor to the guest controlled heating, air conditioning and fire place to the sumptuous bathroom and the bed, oh the bed where my wife says she sleeps better than she does at home, to the wonderful view of the lake, words cannot describe the feeling of "we're back at the Hillside Inn and all is well."

If you're looking for a restful vacation in an idyllic setting in an Inn whose rooms cannot be equalled from the standpoint of charm, comfort and convenience then call the Hillside Inn in Ephraim, Wi and hope they're not booked. You'll never regret the call and i speak from experience as my wife and I just came back from our sixth vacation at the Hillside since May of 2004.

We loved everything about our stay here - great location to explore Door Cty., lovely view of Eagle Bay, beautiful, squeaky clean inn with pretty decor & fabulous gardens. Stayed in Trillium Suite - to die for! Beautiful, spacious, 2 decks!, lovely super comfy king bed, & a huge whirlpool facing the bay. Hosts are friendly, professional, & provide excellent food.

My wife and i just returned from our 4th stay at the lovely Hillside Inn in Ephraim in just over a year. it goes without saying that we just love the Inn, with its picturesque setting right across from beautiful Eagle Harbor.

The sunsets, which you can view from either your room's deck or the Inn's 100+ foot long deck furnished with comfortable chairs, lounges, swings and tables, are like seeing a picture postcard shot for a glamorous travel magazine.

While at the Inn i read in the Chicago Tribune (the inn keepers provide copies of the Tribune, USA Today, the New York Times and a Wisconsin paper as well) that the Ritz Carleton had just raised their daily room rate to $795.00. Well, for those folks who can afford and expect "Ritz" quality and service, come to the Hillside Inn in Ephraim. you won't be disappointed.

And for those of us who are not necessarily "Ritz" customers you too should vacation at the Hillside Inn because you'll have a room that's too beautiful for words. Spic-and-span clean, large, airy, elegantly furnished and comfortable with the most comfy bed you've ever slept in (i'm almost always sleep deprived but i slept like a baby in our bed at the Inn) with all imported linens and toiletries that would do the finest european hotel proud. Plus! Top-of-the-line Sony TVs and DVD players with a huge library of films to choose from.

Best of all you don't pay "Ritz" prices at the Hillside Inn. frankly, I've been traveling for many years and this Inn is the best vacation value i've ever experienced.

Everything at the Hillside Inn is first class. From the moment you see the Inn, as you drive up 42, this beautiful edifice, with its lush landscaping just looks special. and when you walk in the door the furnishings whisper to you that you've come to the right place and that you're going to enjoy comforts like no other inn can deliver.

I've left the best for last. The Inn's owners, Clare and Jim Webb, are just the nicest, sweetest people you'll ever meet. They really understand and deliver customer service, a rare commodity these days. You'll feel, upon first meeting them, that you're being greeted, not by inn-keepers, but by old and dear friends.

So, my fellow vacationers, take it from someone who is an unbelieveably picky person that if you want to feel pampered by your surroundings and you don't want to pay "Ritz" prices stay at the Hillside Inn in Ephraim. You won't regret it.

My husband and I spent Memorial Day weekend at the Hillside Inn of Ephraim and we are ready to move in! Our stay in the Forget-Me-Not suite, overlooking the budding garden out back, was absolutely wonderful. We felt truly pampered by the luxurious bedding, gas fireplace and spacious shower with double showerhead. Not to mention the delicious breakfasts prepared each morning by innkeepers Jim and Clare Webb and the mouth-watering homemade cookies served hot from the oven each afternoon, which we found ourselves eagerly anticipating. While this was our first trip to Door County, the insightful suggestions offered by the Webbs allowed us to enjoy fine dining experiences and exciting excursions. Needless to say, we will definitely return to the Hillside Inn of Ephraim.
