My husband and I had lunch at Lola's this afternoon. The setting was nice, across a quiet street from the lake, and there were only four tables...all two tops. Our first choice was the Carmalized Scallops. We got the three bears! One was a large juicy scallop, the second was a medium sized scallop, a bit overcooked, and the third was the baby scallop, and it was NOT just right! The presentation was beautiful, but $4 per scallop was pricey. We then shared the 5 onion soup. The bowl was more than half filled with bread that was too sweet for the rich soup. The Gruyere emulsion lacked cheese taste and was nothing special. We shared the Lobster BLT. As far as we could see, they just ruined a tiny bit of lobster. There was no lobster flavor, but lots of dry toast. The lobster salad was sparse and the slices of tomatoes were about as thin as they could have been. We ordered the grilled melon salad for dessert and it was awful. The melon lacked flavor, and the mint dressing was overwhelming. There was more lettuce than anything, and we did send this one back. Instead we had an amazing chocolate hazelnut dessert. That was the absolute highlight, but we would not go out of our way to visit again, even for the bit of chocolate heaven.
