“Wine pairing dinner”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 20, 2013

Stayed at the Osthoff for a wine pairing dinner at Lola's restaurant. It was fantastic. The room was really nice and a very comfy bed. Some other reviews say the housekeeping wasn't good but we found everything clean and neat. The staff was very friendly. Have only stayed there once before but will definitely stay there again.

I went to a Women's Retreat with my church and honestly I didn't want to go back home. Besides the fact that I have two small kids, early morning walks at the lake, awesome, quality food provided for us by the resort and the level of service provided by the employees at the resort definitely gave me what I was looking for. It was definitely worth the short drive from Chicago and I'll look foward to when I can return.

The Osthoff Resort is huge! It is tucked away amid lots of farmland! The customer service at the front desk was pretty good...although she could have explained a little better how to get to our room...there was construction. Once we got to the room we were very impressed. Nice big suite with full kitchen...stocked with utensils....pretty much everything you need! Nice sitting area and big bedroom. Bathroom with shower and whirlpool tub. We ordered room service for breakfast which was ok. We ate at Osso's for dinner and it was very good. Do go into Elkhart Lake and try some of the restaurants. We ate at Paddock's and it was EXCELLENT! Excellent service, excellent food! We went to Sheboygan and ate at Field to Fork....very good! It is off season right now so it was very quiet...which was fine with us! I imagine the Osthoff is very busy during peak season. We did get a couples massage at the spa....very over priced...it was nice but too expensive!!

We decided to stay at The Osthoff resort for our weekend getaway because we had read wonderful reviews about this resort. Each review we read was spot on! This is an excellent place to go on a weekend away. We had a 1 bedroom garden view suit which was very spacious and a wonderful patio that looked out at the garden. We even had a small view of the lake. The grounds are just beautiful! The fall colors we picture perfect. Staff very friendly and the spa was AMAZING!!! We had dinner at Lola’s on the Lake which was again beautiful views of the grounds and lake. The housekeeping could do a little bit better job of dusting as the stove in our room didn’t look like it had been dusted in several weeks. The bed was not that comfy and could use new bedspread. Other than that we really enjoyed this resort.

Dear Meggan F,

Thank you for choosing to spend your getaway weekend with us. We are so pleased that you enjoyed your time here at The Osthoff.

Thank you, also, for bringing a few housekeeping service issues to our attention. Your experience has been shared with the appropriate managers and will be addressed with our housekeeping staff. Regarding your bedspread, you will be pleased to know that all bedspreads, resort-wide, are being replaced with signature white cotten duvets, milled exclusively for The Osthoff, by the end of the year.

Thank you, again, for staying with us. We look forward to serving you when you return.

Sincerely,

Lola Roeh

5 ladies spent a girls weekend at the Osthoff Resort. The 3 bedroom condo we rented was very nice. Our visit was in November so we're thinking about coming in the Spring or Summer because we would have more to do outdoors. This visit was for rest and mission was accomplished.

I had previously had been to the Osthoff in the winter time with my girlfriend. At that time, we had a 1 bedroom suite. We had a good enough time that we decided to return at the end of August with my family. This time we had a 2 bedroom loft suite. There was a convention going on which flooded some of the local restaurants at times but for the most part the pools and beach were not overly crowded. The beach was clean with plenty of chairs and the bar/food shack there was convenient. The staff was very friendly and the prices for the restaurant were not horribly overpriced for a resort. The resort had plenty of activities to do and keep you occupied. Based on the above, I should give the resort at least a 4 star rating. The big problem that I had (and why I am conflicted) was that our room was so uncomfortably hot. The loft has one bedroom on the first floor and the second bedroom in the loft. The AC unit was a wall unit in the living room. We had all fans blasting (in the correct direction) but it did not make a difference. As a result, there was horrible air circulation, especially in the loft. I felt so bad for my parents who slept in the loft. The management had to put in a temporary AC in the loft but even that was only semi-effective because they had to keep a window open for the AC. Even our room on the first floor got really hot when the door was closed because the AC unit only cooled the living room. I want to recommend this place but I can't if you are in a loft suite in the summer time. (sidenote: We talked to other guests in loft suites and they had a similar problem with the temperature regulation)

Room Tip: don't stay in loft

Dear HabsFan33,

Thank you for sharing your experience at The Osthoff with us. We are so pleased to have you as our guest, once again, and that many aspects of your stay were enjoyable.

Please know that we have addressed the issue of adequately cooling the loft suites since you stayed with us, installing air conditioning in all loft bedrooms to provide dedicated cooling to just those bedrooms. I am so sorry they were not yet installed during your stay with us.

Again, we always appreciate your feedback and look forward to serving you again.

Sincerely,

Lola Roeh

That's it. Just amazing. Everything. The rooms, restaurants, views, staff, spa, location....so quiet and peaceful in November, which is really what we were looking for. Oh and we will definitely go back, as soon as possible as many times as possible.
Maybe summer next time. The lake was crystal clear.
