I would give Jersey's a sero rating, but one star is as low as Trip Advisor will let me go.
My wife and I visited Depere in late July, 2009. After walking through the downtown area (east of the river), we decided that Jersey's had a nice menu with affordable prices.
Later that evening, we arrived. To get to the restaraunt area, we had to walk through a bar that was full of smokers (this will not be a problem as of July, 2010, when Wisconsin goes smokeless). Had that been apparant earlier, we wouldn't have gone there.
Regarding atmosphere and ambiance, the restaurant is barebones.
Although fairly large, we were seated next to the only other occupied table. It was actually several tables joined together where two families with very noisy kids were having a pizza party. One look at the pizza encouraged me to order something else.
I had pasta with Bolognese sauce. It was the worst such meal I've ever had. It was completely tasteless, as though someone warmed up generic tomato soup and ground beef and poured it over pasta. There was the texture of actual meat, but no flavor.
My wife had a sandwich which included Italian sausage. In case anyone is unaware, Wisconsin is the home of many famous sausage companies; including the Italian variety. Her sandwich, like my pasta, had no taste.
Even the bread was bad -- gummy and blah.
Plus, the kids were running wild. No one made any effort to stop them.
To add to the insult, our waitress left us the bill halfway through the alleged meal. She said we could pay later at the bar, but she had to leave for her other job. At this point, there was absolutely no one from Jersey's paying any attention to the restaurant area -- they were all in the bar smoking.
If you're in DePere and you want great Italian food, drive a few minutes north to the south end of Green Bay -- on the east side of the Fox River, to a place called Caffe Mario's (yes, the spelling is correct.) The north/south street to take is Broadway.
We were there the following evening, and the food was marvelous. Again, I ordered pasta with meat sauce and it was outstanding. Plus, it was actually less expensive than Jersey's.
Note - there is a bar in east Depere that doesn't allow smoking - it's called Archies and it's a few feet west of Jersey's. They serve food, but I think it's limited to lunch. BTW, Archie is the name of the owners' dog. Ask them to bring him into the bar.He is huge and very friendly.. You can't help but hug him.
