“The best steak ever!!!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 1, 2013

Went here with family on New Year's Eve. I am from out of town and this place was chosen by a family member. I am not much of a supper club fan, but this place served the best steak ever! The staff was extremely friendly and the dinner was fabulous! I will return next time I am in the area.

“I enjoy this place.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 20, 2012 via mobile

I met with my girlfriend at 8th and York and ended up leaving before we ate due to their lack of care of their customer. So we went to Rupps because it was closer to home. We had a great time and the food was good. A think the food is very pricy and a small selection but very good.

“Semi-attractive dining room in a steel building”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 24, 2012

Our family has eater at Rupp's more than a few times, in large part because it's one of extremely few available in Cleveland. Other options are Subway and a bar. A few miles from Cleveland are a coffee shop in an orchard (cute, open for breakfast and lunch only, and only certain days, ultra slow service) and Whistling Straits, an outstanding restaurant on a fantastic golf course.

At Rupp's, the French onion soup is good.

The "Friday Fish Fry" (a Wisconsin staple) is OK, but won't win any awards. The salad bar is tiny but neat.

While the exterior of the building may tend to turn a person off (steel, out-of-the-catalog appearance), the dining room is appealing. Colors are pleasant. Real oil painting adorn the walls. Tables and chairs are nice dark wood. The only downside is that more than a little of the food and beverage processing aspect of the restaurant intrudes into the dining room, a minor intrusion.

Specials for the day are usually interesting, providing excellent variety.

Like more than a few restaurants, too much salt and pepper is used in some of the dishes. Why is it that chefs/cooks don't realize the customer can add salt and/or pepper if a moderate amount isn't enough for his/her taste buds, but the guest can not take either out of the food?

All in all, Rupp's is an OK medium between the outstanding Whistling Straits in nearby Haven and the franchise Subway.

“Off the Beaten Path Gem”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 16, 2012

For those of you travelling through northeast Wisconsin, perhaps on the way to Door County, this is for you. Rupp's On Washington, located in Cleveland, Wisconsin, is a true find. Situated in a non-descript metal building, at first glance, from the outside the place might be taken for a NAPA auto parts store. However, inside you'll find an excellent bar, cozy booths and a spacious dining room. Larry Rupp, the owner and primary chef, ages his meat on-site, and prepares a wide variety of dinner selections from steaks and chops to seafood, accompanied by a thoroughly stocked salad bar and sensational home-made soups. His 20 oz. New York strip, or prime rib, can go toe-to-toe with those prepared by any of the "major" chop houses. The perch are succulent, and the broiled halibut's superb...all at a fair price. The staff is competent and welcoming, and Buzz, the bartender, is an attentive pro who pours a great drink. We're "regulars" there and have never been disappointed.

“superb dining”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 30, 2011

I had two excellent dinner at the Rupp's and will be back there any time i visit Cleveland. Clean and remodeled to taste with classic pictures across the wall. They even had a flag of america that dated back to before Hawaii and Alaska attained statehood. Cool.
