“Our Favorite B&B”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 5, 2012

Coming home from Door County we just couldn't drive by Cedarburg and not stay at the Washington House Inn. By chance I called the day before our departure from Fish Creek and found there were a few rooms available for the night. Nothing like extending our vacation and making this our last stop on the way home. We stayed in Room #106 and found it to be cozy and quiet. Great chairs to sit in and read, as well as a good night sleep on a very comfortable king size bed. Enjoyed the wine and cheese (a nice touch not offered by many other b&bs), as well as the outstanding homemade selections for breakfast. Perfect place for a couple, as well as a group getaway. It was a wonderful way to end our vacation to Wisconsin!

We only spent one night but found it an enjoyable one. We loved the location, we could walk to all the shops and go back to the Inn to drop our packages off and rest with a refreshing Citrus Ice Water-Oh was that delightful! (The Inn has a large water container with orange/lime/strawberry and other fruit in ice water) Then go back out to have lunch and check out other shops. We got back in time for the wine and cheese before going to dinner. It was a delightful spread of cheese and crackers. Several different kinds of wine to choose from. All in all we enjoyed our stay very much and will return again one day.

Room Tip: We would choose a room next time off of the front of the building.

Just spent 3 nights at the Washington House Inn in Cedarbug, WI and have a great time! Inn was centrally located on the main strip of town, so walking to shops and restaurants was easy. Some have complained about traffic noise, but we stayed in room 216 (John Roth) and the only noise from traffic we heard was some emergency equipment going by one morning. Otherwise, things were quiet and peaceful. The room itself was spacious and comfortable, and the bed/sheets were amazing. The breakfast was nice and available for 4 hours each morning (6:00 - 10:00), so no set time or rush to get down there. The breakfast included breads and muffins, along with granola, yogurt, cereal and there was always some sort of hot dish (eggs/bacon, egg casserole, etc). The wine/cheese happy hour each night was nice and a good way to sample some local wine for free! An in-room refrigerator would have been nice for leftovers and drinks, but there was a refrigerator available by the ice machine for that purpose, which was fine.

Just returned from a wonderful 2 day stay here. Quiet, comfortable and a great, friendly staff. Will return again hopefully soon. Had delicious dinners at the Anvil and Farmstead. The afternoon wine and cheese hour at the inn was delightful and the breakfast was so good each morning. A a perfect place to stay. Some rooms are tiny; we stayed in the very large Dr. Edward Luening suite which was roomy and fabulous!

Everything about our stay was lovely--the room was comfortable, charming, and quiet, the staff was friendly and helpful, and the breakfast and afternoon wine and cheese were plentiful and delightful. We were so delighted to have a comfortable place to relax after a long day of biking.

On a very hot (100 degrees) day we checked into this historic Inn. It was cool, calm, and absolutely lovely. Ice cold water, coffee, and muffins were available all day in the gathering room. In late afternoon the wine and cheese offered was delicious and generous, with cheese, crackers, an appetizer, fruit, and quite an assortment of wine and juice. In the morning we found ourselves in this same pretty room, fresh flowers on every table, enjoying a completely extended continental breakfast. (cereal, a variety of fresh breads and bakery, yogurt, fresh fruit, an egg and sausage strata, etc.) Two servers kept everything immaculate and well stocked. All this is included in the room price. Our room was cool, quiet, comfortable, lovely, and decorated with simplicity and style. This Inn is in the middle of the quaint town of Cedarburg, in a perfect location for strolling shopping, browsing, and sampling local gourmet ice cream. Can't wait to come back!

I stayed here the weekend that I got engaged! We stayed in the John Roth room and it was gorgeous! It was spacious and the bed was very comfortable. The design of the room was very pretty and quaint. The staff there are very nice and a pleasure to talk to. The breakfast in the morning was delicious and the cheese and wine tasting during the day was great! I am looking forward to staying here in the future!
