“Nice old fashioned motel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 22, 2013

The staff was welcoming and the rooms were fine. VERY clean, but expectedly older, which was ok. The towels kinda sucked, but they gladly gave us extras. One thing I thought was kinda cool was the fact that they gave us an actual KEY!! Haven't had a hotel room with a key in ages. :)

Room Tip: I'm sure all room are good.

There aren't a lot of lodging choices near my uncle's house for a family party that was going to go late into the night - so while I normally command 4 star this had to be it. I was impressed with how clean it was. The sun was shining right into the white bathroom in the morning and any dirt would have had a hard time hiding- it was definitely clean. The bathroom linens were very worn- for the price if that bothers you bring your own. The bedding was ok. I wouldn't do anything more than just sleep here - but for that it was just fine- especially considering the price!

Just checked into this motel and veyr surprised by what we found. Have been gone from home on a trip for more than two weeks which was changed by hurricane Irene. On our way back home to Texas. Stopped here at this one motel town, and took a chance on this motel. I am no a snob, but I have to say that I am used to the best of the best. Checked in and was more than surprised at how updated and comfortable this motel is. Backed right up to the door to unload, and the room we had, had been totally updated and was clean, clean, clean, which is a #1 with me on staying anywhere. Some original 50's furnishings, but new carpet, paint, baseboards, beds with new headborads ,new bathroom tile, toilet, and shower, with great water presure. Non-smoking and smelled great!! I would recommend staying here to anyone!!!

Room Tip: Doo't know about the other rooms but #8 was the best!

I was on a motorcycle trip with two companions. We researched the web for an economical place to rest overnight in the Rice Lake area. We took a chance on the Black Bear Motel, largely because of price. The hotel is about 1.5 miles off Hwy 53 in Cameron. When we arrived the owner gave us the price quoted on the web, which sometimes can be just a come on. The rooms were very clean and well-maintained. Next door was a multi-purpose store (Bait, liquor, tackle and firearms) run by the family. Bags of ice were complimentary to hotel guests and we were greated by the owners mom who was a peach. Across the road is an excellent restaurant and another cafe around the corner served a very reasonable breakfast. The location was the best during our entire trip and rivaled any we have stayed at for convenience and quality.

Room Tip: Every member of our party got fine rooms

Wow! If you thought the place was nice before, you'll love it now. The new young man in charge is really caring and thoughtful! Now called the Black Bear Motel. It was very nice!

The rooms were clean and the owners are a nice young couple who are very attentive. If you are looking for glitz and glamor this is not the place for you. I appreciated the quiet and great location. We had everything we needed. I will stay here again when in the area.
