“Does the trick”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 25, 2012

BRF is a great place to stop for the night if you are travelling on 94 through Wisconsin, and the Arrowhead is a fun throwback hotel to choose. About what you would expect from a Best Western property built 40 years ago - decent rooms, friendly staff, and a great bar and grill in the hotel (The Orange Moose). Pool area was clean and morning breakfast had some good hot food options. Good place for families. Make sure to hit the Mocha Mouse on your way out of town.

In a town where chain hotels are the only option, this one gets our vote. Though right off the interstate, it's set far back enough that noise isn't a problem, in fact, the tractors, trucks and trailers speeding along against the lovely rural backdrop was one of those quintessential American scenes that very much charmed these urbanites. A nice-sized pond with walkway and seating is a great spot to watch the sun dip behind the property's giant orange fiberglass spokesmoose and snap many pics.
A decent full hot breakfast, OK restaurant and bar with reasonably priced drinks and multiple screens showing the Packers playing an exhibition game rounded out the stay. The place was sufficiently clean- a little dated but not shabby. If you're an ATV-er this is your place, the trails lead here. What drew us was the opportunity to vacation with our dog. They were also really nice about letting us bring our bikes into the room, (once they realized we weren't talking about motorcycles). Not huge fans of fried and breaded fare we frequented the grocery/deli/bakery right next to the hotel where we got good coffee, salads and sandwiches to bring back to the room. If we return to Black River Falls this is where we'll stay.

Room Tip: The dog-friendly suites are around back, kind of a far walk from the pool and restaurant, but close...

I met family and friends for a visit. The rooms are clean, the beds are comfortable, and the pool/hot tub are clean and well-maintained. The building is older, but the atmosphere is quaint and comfortable. The restaurant food is delicious and the service is superior. They had fall decorations up that gave the hotel a festive feeling. Beside the basics, the staff is extremely friendly and hospitable. From the person who booked my room by phone to the check out and in between - absolutely outstanding service. Pradeep was one person who went out of his way to accommodate our requests and make our visit enjoyable. The housekeeping staff greeted us and asked us how our lunch was. They all sincerely cared about our experience. The front desk staff was always friendly and helpful. For the cost of the room, the service FAR exceeded what I would have expected. I would certainly recommend a stay at this hotel.

We ended our visit to Wisconsin with a stay at the Arrowhead Lodge. The location is very conveniently located near the interstate, but noise was not a problem.
While this hotel was obviously built more than a couple years ago, it was very clean and well-maintained. We had a spacious room that was set up perfectly for a family. We had a double queen suite with two queen beds and a pull-out couch.
One room in the unit (small apartment is probably more accurate) was set up as a bedroom with the two queen beds, a desk, and a dresser with a small TV. The other room had the pull-out couch, a nice wall-mounted flat-screen TV, a fridge, microwave, coffee maker, and desk. There was a small coffee table in front of the couch and also a small dining table.
I cannot comment on the comfort of the pull-out couch as we did not use it as a bed, but the "regular" beds were very comfortable, and a variety of pillows were available.
The swimming pool was a bit small, but the entire area was clean, as were the towels that were provided. The hot tub was also clean and well-maintained. A nice bonus in the pool area was a shower where we were able to rinse the pool water off after the swim.
We finished our stay with a very generous complementary breakfast, where everyone in the family found something they liked. Cereal, muffins, waffles, biscuits and gravy, sausages, scrambled eggs, fruit, and a variety of juices and coffee were available.
All-in-all, this is a terrific place to stay. It's not as fancy as some hotels, probably not as inexpensive as others, but I found it to be a wonderful value given the cleanliness and available amenities.

This motel was clean and the staff was courteous. They might have the best "free" breakfast I've had. My only minor complaint was the $1 charge for the room safe. I didn't remember to ask them to take the charge off my bill. I know it's only a dollar but maybe ask me if I needed the safe rather than ask me to exclude from my bill.

I had a very relaxing time when I was driving through Wisconsin. The hotel was clean, the bed was comfortable, and the room was modern. Slept very well and had a great night. The staff was very friendly and helpful, especially as I had trouble finding ESPN and they were quick to look it up for me. Will be staying here again when driving by Black River Falls in a few months.

If you have to stay in the area and are looking for a no frills, nice location, well run hotel. Choose this one. Its easy to get to. The staff is very good. Breakfast is nice, nothing over fancy but way above your roll and coffee fare. The rooms are not huge. The are clean and have what you would want for a short stay. The work desk is a little cramped. And the internet a bit slow. The bed is comfortable. Overall, a nice place for a short stay. There is enough attractions around the area to keep you busy

Room Tip: try and stay on the back side of hotel away from the freeway its a little more quiet. I have stayed...
