Mirror Lake State Park is an excellent Wisconsin State park located just minutes away from the Wisconsin Dells. What makes this park so nice are the following.
The campground area is nicely wooded and the individual campsites are spread out far enough to provide a good level of privacy for each campsite. There are nice bathroom facilities with showers located near the main camping areas. These campsites are amongst the nicest in Wisconsin.
There are miles of well marked and groomed hiking trails within the park, which have some elevation gains in some areas but are not advanced trails by any means. The park is apparently open for cross country skiing in the winter, which must be very nice based on both the scenery and the hills to go up and down.
Mirror Lake itself is a very nice, relatively calm lake surrounded by woods and limestone cliffs. There is a nice beach on the lake near the campgrounds for swimming and for a picnic. There is also a boat rental area with canoes, kayaks, and small motorized pontoon boats. Rental rates are pretty reasonable, and we rented a double kayak and spent 3 hours on the lake exploring.
The other nice aspect about this campground is that it is located very closely to the WIsconsin Dells, so you can easily spend time doing all of the activities there, including a long list of restaurants, and then return to the relative quiet of the campground at night.
This park is highly recommended.
