“This is the GO TO PLACE in this area!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 31, 2011

We have lived in this area part time for several years, the rest of the year in Madison, an outstanding restaurant town. Almost all of the places in this area are adequate "supper clubs" or bars with food. Only the Little Village Cafe is a true delight that would shine in any location! Although their menu is a bit small, the specials are imaginative and everything is delicious! The staff is friendly and warm, and the building is a landmark. This is the "don't miss place" in this area. And do not forget to leave room for Christine's desserts! My favorite is the carrot cake! We've purchased several for special occasions and it is a true guilty pleasure.

“great place reminiscent of the 1940s with wonderful tasty dishes”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 18, 2011

If you are ever driving down I-94 near the Wisconsin Dells, take a short trip south to Baraboo, Wisconsin and have a meal at The Little Village Cafe, you wont regret it! Right downtown on the corner next to the decorative Ringling (of circus fame) Theater, you will see this gem of a place. Changed little from the 1940s as far as decor it is a history trip. But the food is new and awesome with creations from several cultures. I had the Moroccan Chicken Sandwich (roasted chicken, feta, onions and spices) absolutely delicious. From the way cool wooden booths to the circular counters and stools, from the old advertising signs to the friendly staff it is the place to truly enjoy. Service is great and they do have a full bar as well.

“Surprise and a treat”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 28, 2011

Burger was ok-ish, but the Moroccan chicken (slightly spiced rice, tender chicken, mixed olives & feta dip) was so spectacular, we drove out of out way to get it again.

Found the place through a guidebook. Didn't get utensils with take out, had to ask.

Compared to the horrendous food selection in Wisconsin Dells, this was a surprise and a treat. Definitely recommend, and will try to go back to when in the area.

“Gourmet Surprise in Vacation Area”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 28, 2011

We were travelling with our 2 grandchildren in the Baraboo area. We decided to have an "adult" dinner and the Little Village Cafe looked promising.

The cafe is in an old building and has a counter, booths, and tables. Don't let the counter lead you to believe that this is a diner---the menu and food quality are well above that!

When we arrived, a table for four was not available, so we were seated at the counter and began to study the menu. Before we could order, a table opened up and were moved to it.

There was a good selection of appetizers, salads, entrees, sandwiches, pastas, and burritos. We had pot stickers (good), penne regate 4 cheese, and vegetable, beef, and chicken burritos. Be warned---the burritos are huge! We were glad that our hotel room had a refrigerator as we had the burritos and penne for dinner the next night.

We were way too stuffed to try dessert, but it was homemade and looked great.

“Upscale Food for the Area, just 10 min from The Dells”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 22, 2010

This is a great place to get away from the dells, tucked in a Nifty old diner with not so diner like food. everything seems to be home made and cooked with care. It is about the only place to eat in Baraboo where there is any understanding of spices and flavors. They make a cumin sauce for the burritos that is really good and the Goat cheese and sourdough bread is outstanding. I don't know if they make their own bread but is perfect with a nice flaky crust. The desert case is like something you would find in a much larger city. Many choices of wine, full bar. The staff is fast, friendly and competent. Lunches are around 10.00 and dinner is around 10-20. Since I live in the area,I have eaten there many times over the last few years and my only complaint is that the menu rarely changes - not a concern for those just passing through.
