We love coming to Devils Lake where the water is crystal clear and the air is fresh. The entire experience was gratifying.

We did a 5 hours hike in this area and its really beautiful there, the trails are very well marked and maintained, and it was not crowdy.

“Well Worth a Visit”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 10, 2014

With some of the more spectacular rock formations in the midwest and a scenic lake all a short drive from Madison, it is little wonder this is a popular park. Unfortunately, the heavy traffic has taken its toll on the place. Some of the "trails" are actually paved with asphalt, and the campgrounds/recreational facilities have undermined the natural feel of the place. While the bluffs still make a visit worthwhile, the infrastructure that facilitates millions of visitors a year really damages the experience. The park doesn't even manage to shed its overcrowded and overbuilt tourist trap feel during the off-season, which is a real shame.

“Amazing State Park”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 2, 2014

This state park is like none other! The hiking and the lake are amazing. There is all sorts of hiking for each type of person, all the way to the person who wants to climb the rocks with climbing gear. This is a very family friendly park, and if you want to know about the ecology in that area, the visitor center has a great place to expand your knowledge!! They even check out GPS' for you to use within the park!! Great family fun!

“Great hike”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 30, 2014

We drive here from Milwaukee a couple of times a year for the hike around the lake. There are several trails with different levels of dificulty. How much scrambling up rocks, natural steps, etc do you want this time. One visit gave eye level views of eagles from the bluff. The last hike was two times around th lake, each with its own path. good views of the lake, color changes in the fall.
