We knew there was a fee coming, and we were okay with that; however, there is a separate fee if you want to go up the lighthouse, which feels a little shady. We appreciate the time, energy, and passion that the workers and volunteers have for maintaining this lighthouse, but as lighthouses go, this one is average, if not a little disabused looking. If you're staying in Door Co. and already have a park pass, the Peninsula State Park lighthouse will probably fill your lighthouse needs.

Thanks much for your review. We do our best to use all input to spur improvement. We acknowledge that the additional charge to climb the light tower can be a bit confusing. The admission pricing is structured in this way so that we can keep the cost as low as possible for those not desiring or physically incapable of making the climb to the top. Please know that a portion of your admission will go toward the restoration of the lighthouse and other historic buildings on the island. We have been raising funds for several years and will embark on a $1M+ restoration project this spring. We hope you can visit again in a year or two to check out our progress! Thanks again.
