“It was all we expected and more!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 17, 2009

My husband and I visted the Yacht Club for a week in the end of June and the beginning of July. Our stay could not have been more pleasant. The room was immaculate, the grounds were magnigicent, and the staff was so pleasant. Watching the 4th of July fireworks from the chairs on the lake was just fantastic. I had the misfortune of leaving my favorite pillow in the room. I called and I had it three days after our arrival home. My only complaint had nothing to do with the Club. It had to do with the noisy people next door who partied until 3 a.m.
We never like to visit the same place twice but will truly make an exception in the case of Bailey's Harbor and Yacht Club.

My fiance and I wanted a quiet post-holiday getaway in Door County. We picked Bailey's Harbor Yacht Club off the internet (a risky gamble sometimes), but it was touted as a "best-kept secret" and "off the beaten path", which sounded really good to us. Plus the fact that it was on a nature preserve, and came with a fireplace, whirlpool, kitchenette, and view of the Lake -- we decided to give it a chance. What a lovely surprise! It was perfect for what we wanted. Clean, well-kept, VERY quiet and nearly deserted. We spent our time cross-country skiing in Peninsula State Park and Newport Beach State Park. Yes, it was off-season and most everything was closed, but that was FINE with us, since we're not big fans of touristy stuff anyway! We stocked up on groceries at the Piggly Wiggly in Sister Bay and used the fully stocked kitchenette in our room. Our room overlooked the Lake and we had the most incredible winter views, morning and night. We took advantage, too, of the very nice indoor pool, hot tub, and sauna. The room temp was a bit difficult to manage -- very hot most of the time -- but we cracked open our balcony door and did okay. If you want a peaceful winter getaway, this is a great place to find it.

  • Liked — Peace & quiet, cleanliness, fireplace & whirlpool
  • Disliked — no in-room internet access -- had to go to the main building

I thought our room was pretty. We had a nice view of the water & a little balcony. The front desk staff was amazing! They have an excellent staff here very accomodating. The whirlpool in my room was a little small & not having an elevator annoyed me, but the room was so pretty that I didn't care. Very relaxing & highly recommmended.

We stayed here for one night for my birthday. Paid $132 for a stateroom. The pool, hot tub and sauna were nice; it was too cold to use the outdoor pool. The room was very large and the small kitchenette were nice. The view of the harbor was also very nice. The lobby had free cappucino and a computer (there isn't internet in the rooms) and a lot of menus from local restaurants. A few minor changes would make this an extremely nice locations ... mostly, some nice updates in the bathroom, the shower head was lacking. Upgraded tv's and more than 17 cable channels would be nice too. I understand, you don't go to Door County to watch tv, but a 19" screen??? The vcr/dvd combo was really nice though.

Overall it was a nice hotel, but a bit pricey.

Our stay at the resort was outstanding! We stayed in a one BDR on the courtyard. We also had a view of Lake Michigan. The accomodations were excellent, comfortable and met all our needs. We traveled with a teenager and he was fully entertained. The condo was reasonably priced and the staff met all of our needs. We highly recommend this resort- great during the week as well as weekend! This is our 11 th year visiting Door County!

I have stayed at the Yacht Club Resort three different times since September. The staff has been very helpful and courteous. The resort has a beautiful setting on Lake Michigan, with gorgeous sunsets over the harbor. The restuarants in the door county area are first rate. Shopping and activities in the area are busiest late May through October. It is fun to travel the 10-12 miles across the pennisula to the "bay side" which gets very busy in season with shopping and tourists, but even more wonderful to come "home" to the other side with the peace, quiet and beauty of the Lake Michigan sunsets. This past trip was over Christmas and a fresh snowfall. The snow on the trees was breath taking scene - a beautiful resort in a perfect setting.

The resort totally met my expection, the accomodations were all first rate. Although I did not use the beautiful indoor pool, there were many guests who were enjoying it. Sitting on lake Michigan and waking up to the water outside of your window is wonderful. The staff was very helful as well. All in all a very good experience, I can't wait to go again and again
