“It's sleepy time down South! Incredible experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 26, 2013

We have been fortunate enough to visit the Greenbrier several times. Initially, An employer had our annual Senior management meetings several times at the Greenbrier over a 15 year span. They were very effective for team building. I've taken my family several times and we really enjoy the hotel and many of the activity options. The only issue is our youngest daughter (13) makes it clear how disappointed she is when we stay at another hotel! We may have probably spoiled her!!

I have been to the Greenbrier previously, but this time was an absolute delight. My friend booked a suite, with two large rooms and a living room. It was wonderful. Even though it's "not my style" (old world and very flowery), the rooms were comfortable with many amenities. The bed was comfortable and there was plenty of space to move around.
I can't say enough about the staff as a whole. They were all courteous, friendly and helpful, whether in the restaurants, at the door, housekeeping or in the shops. This really helped to make the experience so positive.
I found there is a lot to do and I didn't get to do everything, so I will be happy to go back.

The Greenbrier is an absolutely amazing resort that's focus is on YOU! From the moment you arrive until you leave the property, the service is extraordinary with friendly folks eager to make your stay a memory of a lifetime. Phyllis started with making our reservations extremely pleasant, answering my many questions, getting us the perfect room, and made some GREAT recommendations for dinners! As you drive to the Greenbrier the mountains will wash away any stress you have and prepare you for a gorgeous resort in West Virginia. Driving into the grounds lets you know this is not just a Spa and Golf Resort, but much more! The staff took care of us 24-7 with attentive and friendly service. The golf clinics were great - great instruction, extremely helpful, and were like having private lessons with only 2 and 3 in each clinic. My husband was so glad he participated in the two clinics! Sam Snead's had the best Cheeseburger we have ever had...so we had to go twice! Don't miss the notorious Banana Split (they make their ice cream) at Draper's; one that TWO of us could NOT finish. What a deal at $8.00! Our room was extremely large, even though it was an Intermediate Size Room. It was decorated to a tee, the bed MORE than comfortable, and the we loved the bathroom and large closet. The service ALL OVER the resort was exceptional from the Spa, to the Infinity Pool, Shopping, and Golf - All of these meeting high expectations with no disappointments! We have been to other resorts in Miami, Bermuda, Chicago, Scottsdale, etc. but The Greenbrier Resort is at the top of our list. We will be back soon!

And, that is a well preserved, historic, grand hotel. For me, it is a time capsule of the traveling experience that my parents enjoyed in "the good old days". The hotel is exquisite. The grounds are breathtakingly beautiful. Dining has always been fine. There are luxury resorts and, then, there is the Greenbriar. Only one. And, it is special.

As a child I spent many summers staying at The Greenbrier. I always felt like royalty during our stay and this stay proved to be no different. The Greenbrier is a charming get away from all the "noise" that is everyday life. I can feel my whole body sigh the moment I drive onto the grounds. The decor is beautiful, and the activities are abundant. Wild and Wonderful West Virginia indeed. You can be as active as you want or as relaxed as you want while staying at The Greenbrier. You can not go wrong staying here with its rich history and majestic surroundings The Greenbrier is always charming and worth every penny spent.

The greenbrier is an amazing place to visit. I have visited multiple times for various occasions, and I still haven't seen and toured it all. The spa is a wonderful experience. Go early to your treatment to take in the relaxation room with complimentary juice, tea, and water. Also, the steam room is great as well as the actual treatment you go for. Draper's is the best restaurant for casual dining. I also loved the food at the Forum. The grilled vegetable appetizer was really delicious. The dessert was also very good. We had the Tiramisu and the apple fritter/caramel sauce/vanilla ice cream. It is a no miss for sure.

Room Tip: We reserved a junior suite for our family of 2 adults and 2 kids. Its was very spacious and we neve...

Truly, there isn't a scale that can gauge how wonderful a meal is served, than anyplace at the Greenbrier Hotel.

The Greenbrier is on a level unto its own, simply due to the magnificent and breathtaking expanse of space. It is classy beyond imagine.

Although the Main Dining room is where many patrons choose to dine for most meals, we certainly hope they don't miss eating once (or twice, or dozens), at Drapers.

Named after the hotel's famous interior designer, Dorothy Draper, this hot spot downstairs near the Casino is lively and festive.

The decor is so "Draper-esque" in color and form! And the servers all wear what my husband and I refer to as Barbershop Quartet attire.

We loved every bit of the experience, most especially the FOOD!

If you decide to dine at Drapers, we insist you try the Fried Green Tomato sandwich. The taste will haunt you - it's heavenly.

As only the Greenbrier can, it is the perfect combination of fresh, organic, and local produce. With their own farm on campus, they grow everything 'in-house.'

It's really much like dining in Europe (where you can be confident your food hasn't been sprayed with herbicides and pesticides).

We will be talking about Drapers' lunch for months and months. We cannot wait until our next excuse to return for another lunch (or breakfast, or dinner, or ice cream...!) at this great venue!!
