“Wonderful Getaway”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 16, 2012

We just returned from a magnificent stay at The Greenbrier. From the moment we drove into the resort until the time we checked out, we had nothing but excellent service and a wonderful experience. The flowers and grounds are absolutely beautiful during this time of the year. We stayed there in mid-April. The service in all the restaurants and facilities is above and beyond. Prime 44 West is a great choice for dinner, the best wagyu steak ever. The Main Dining Room has a wonderful breakfast buffet with anything that you desire.
Also, the Spa experience is one not to be missed. The facial was the best that I have ever had.
All in all, we had a wonderful stay and hope to return in the future. It is great to have such a beautiful place so close to home. Thumbs up to the owner, management and all the staff at the Greenbrier.

Room Tip: We stayed in a Spring Row Cottage and absolutely loved it. They are very spacious and private, and...

This was our second time at this resort, it had been about 5 years and since they've added more restaurants and the casino. We are not gamblers but loved having the additional meal choices and the food overall was amazing. The service was excellent and the atomosphere was of pure indulgence, loved the special touches of fresh flowers, gourmet food and excellent shopping. Our only disappointment was the Easter buffet on Sunday. The live music, ice sculptures, chocolate and flower displays were amazing, the food cold, strange variety and so-so taste. The rest of our stay we had wonderful meals so this surprised us. Would like to give a shout out to the housekeeping and room service staff - top notch!

Room Tip: We had the Executive suite which had two separate large bedrooms, a family room and three bathrooms...

Headed to the Greenbrier over Easter and had a great, great weekend. We hadn't been back since they added the casino, which is overall a plus. Great experience for the whole family. Rooms are great as they always have been. We love the wild, bold colors. Check-in was made great by Joey at the front desk who helped us get the perfect room. The kids loved the Easter egg hunt and the face painting and balloons afterwards. The biggest hit was the singing group from Virginia Tech Juxtaposition. They were fantastic, we bought their CD. Also had a puppet group as well doing shows all weekend. The food I think has improved. We left with about eight shopping bags full of stuff from their excellent retail stores. My daughter was in an Easter fashion show at the resort -- which she loved. Loved the shooting school and the horseback riding. Dressed up for dinner both nights. Spent one evening in the casino -- its nice, but the craps table was probably the most boring I've ever played at. We'll be back for Easter next year. Great showing by the new team at the Greenbrier, one of the world's great resorts.

Room Tip: We like staying in the main part of the hotel.

My husband and I took our two children to the Greenbrier for a three night stay over Easter weekend. We had a wonderful time. Although our room was not ready until a little after 4:00pm on arrival day, it was worth the wait. Because we were traveling with 2 children, I booked a Junior Suite to give us more room. Great decision....The room was beautifully decorated and housed all four of us with room to spare. The bathroom was huge. The views of the spring flowers divine. The grounds were beautiful and well taken care of. The hotel itself is decorated beautifully. Plenty of activities for everyone. Nice indoor pool. The kids loved the bowling alley. My husband golfed twice. We even took the children to play 9 holes using the pice break they offer for family golf after 3:30pm. Another great decision. I booked several spa appointments and was not disappointed! Wonderful expierence. The casino was beautiful and a great option for after dinner entertainment. We ate at Prime, their steakhouse, once. Best steak we have ever had and worth every penny. Breakfast in the main dining room was fabulous. Dinner in the main dining room was medicore at best. The Forum for dinner was fine. Stick with the pizza and salads. The resort has several high end stores; alot some time for shopping. Yes, the Greenbrier is very expensive. And yes, it is not for everyone. But, my family enjoyed the refinement and yes, we will be back!

Room Tip: If traveling with children, I highly recommend the Junior Suite. It is cheaper than booking two conn...

So, we just spent Easter Weekend at the Greenbrier and stayed in the hotels windsor wing. This wing came with free drinks and hours doureves, The hotel felt like we were staying in the actual white house. Lots of neat activities and different things. Pros-shooting range, spa, indoor pool, history, museum, small casino at night...ok so the negatives...dont think the food was good at all...average at best...stay away from main dining room and the asian place....steak house was ok but very pricey for the quality of food..we had better meals in the small town next door called lewisburg..also the jacket only policy is a bit outdated at night.but i guess it is what they want to do...a place you should go visit once..but doubt we would go back

WOW! Having lived in Virginia all of our lives, my family of five ventured to West Virginia's Greenbrier resort for the first time and loved every moment! The southern hospitality, the elegant surroundings, delicious foods, nice array of activities....it really was a wonderful Easter weekend. Plus, in Lansing WV (about 1 1/2 hours away) we went on an amazing thrill-filled activity...zip lining through the mountains (about 200 feet in the air through the trees!!) We just returned home, and are already talking about our next trip to the Greenbrier!!

Room Tip: For a family of 5, ask for connecting rooms...spacious and 2 bathrooms makes life much easier! Our a...
