We stayed here for our trip to go 4-wheeling at Hatfield and McCoy trails. This place is about what you would expect from a West Virginia motel and a place where a lot of muddy people stay. The Motel is right smack on a pretty busy 55 mph highway. Our room was ok. We had a king size bed, the room was overall clean but run down and outdated. Our bathroom had a boarded up window, very small awkward shower. Carpet was stained but kind of expect that from having a bunch of muddy guests. Our sheets and bedding all appeared very clean. When I called to make the reservation, the man on the phone gave me the impression that they knew much about the Hatfield trail systems. Upon arrival it turns out they know absolutely nothing!! We had to drive around and finally found the Pinnacle Creek Trail System head. No one in the area sells passes but they do at the Pinnacle trail head. And despite what the motel managers say there is no where to get food, gas, etc. on a 4 wheeler! They will tell you everything is just down around the corner, this means a good 10-15 min drive by car. Locals do drive their 4-wheelers on the road but very scary with huge semis coming at you at 55 mph.
The managers live at the motel just behind the reception desk. Didn't have a problem with this until the day I went to pay our bill at around 9:30 in the morning (by the way- they had called our room at 7am that morning to remind us to pay). I went to the front desk, the door to their home was wide open and there sat her husband in nothing but his underwear. She came to the desk in her pajamas I paid our bill and never went back.
