This is a recently renovated hotel. Most everything seems new. Very nice and clean. We stayed three nights in a Whirlpool room, big tub with water jets--good for some sore muscles after previous hiking in Shenandoah Nat'l Park. There was living area a with TV, microwave and refrigerator, small couch, armchair, desk and chair. The bed was in a separate room. This is one of the nicest hotel/motel rooms we have stayed in. All the staff were very friendly. The breakfast in the morning was great. And, cookies at night!
The hotel is centrally located. It is in front of a strip mall and at the end of a commercial district. Every type of restaurant is within walking distance or a quick drive. There is a nice Mexican restaurant just across the parking lot, good food. Chain restaurants next door, fast food everywhere. Misc. stores in the strip mall. Anything you may need is available close by.
Upon checking out and headed for home after a 12 day Fall road trip I realized I had forgotten my favorite Fall jacket in the closet of the hotel. Crap !!! Too far along to turn back so we decided to write it off and get me a new one. The next morning the hotel called, they found my jacket in the closet and would be mailing it to us. Wow !!! How could I ask better from any hotel staff?
Very pleased with our stay. Very impressed with the staff.
If you are sensitive to noise:
This hotel is situated about 100 feet from a major highway, with nothing to buffer the noise. It is only cut grass between the back of the hotel and the highway. Traffic control signals are in the area so vehicles are constantly accelerating or braking: think large trucks and motorcycles.
The front and sides of the hotel are adjacent to the strip mall parking lot road and other business' parking lots. The mall road is a convenient short cut to the Walmart and numerous other businesses. It is very busy during business hours. This is all asphalt covered and no buffer to the noise.
Our room was on the very end of the motel, first room. Very nice for access and hauling in our stuff but we could hear the entrance door slam when anyone came in, which was fairly often.
My wife did not notice any of the noise distractions. I found them mildly distracting when trying to take my afternoon nap. I toughed it out and managed to succeed in getting my daily naps. Not a big deal but if you are sensitive to these types of noises I make the following suggestions:
Do not get an end room where the door opening and closing will be heard. Ask for a room in the front of the hotel, away from the highway. The mall parking lot/road noises drop to nothing around 8-9pm. This should solve most of the noise issues.
This is a very nice hotel. My wife and I highly recommend it.
