“Good Seneca Rocks Vacation Cabin”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 15, 2013 for a stay in October 2013

This is not a cabin that is equipped with flat panel TV, internet access or a "cooks" kitchen, but is a very nice, clean, cabin ideally located at the foot of Spruce Knob National park and about 20 mins from Seneca Rocks. So if you want to tune in, turn on and drop with your family and nature - I think this is the place. So, leave the cell phone in the car (it does not work here) and put on your hiking booths. I will see you at the trail head!

“Absolutely Perfect”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 9, 2013 for a stay in August 2013

Very clean and tidy. Very pretty setting. Very peaceful and quiet. Very lovely views. Very comfortable bed. It was absolutely perfect! From the first email with the owners, everything went very smoothly. The furnishings are new. The beds are comfortable. My husband and son even loved it. Very secluded. Close to Seneca Rocks, Spruce Knob and Via Ferrata. Don't forget to eat at the Gateway Diner. It was a bit of a drive to Dolly Sods and small towns further north but if you don't have to entertain a teenager, then enjoy the drive and enjoy the peace.

“Lovely Romantic Retreat”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 4, 2013 for a stay in August 2013

We stayed over Labor Day weekend and had a marvelous time. The property is just as described - comfortable and secluded. It is very close to Spruce Knob, Seneca Creek, and Spruce Lake - so you don't have to go far to experience the incredible West Virgina landscapes. The cabin itself has stunning views. The cabin was clean and well-appointed. There is a good little restaurant, The Gateway, down the road a short distance and other sundries that you forget to bring (we did!) can be had at the Riverton Market, a short drive down 33 towards Seneca Rocks. Franklin, the town in the other direction, also offers a good selection of restaurants, grocery stores, etc. We cannot say enough nice things about our stay and the people we met.

Liked best: The seclusion and the views
Liked least: There is no AC and I got a little warm, even with the fans. The bed was a little hard for my taste.

“Lovely clean comfortable cabin in a great spot.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 9, 2013 for a stay in August 2013

This was my second trip to the area around Seneca Rocks to visit a friend who works there from time to time and this time I was without my dog so I had a larger choice of accommodations. This cabin was really nice. It is clean and comfortable and probably well sized for up to two couples. There are two bedrooms and baths. The downstairs bedroom has a couple small closets and opens onto the back yard. The upper one is on a loft overlooking the Living Room so to use its bathroom you do have to go downstairs if it is the middle of the night.

Kitchen is more than adequate although if you want to do anything very specialized in terms of cooking it's a good idea to take some of your own gear, spices and so on. There is a camp-style grill in the back by a picnic table but you will need charcoal. I just took a portable propane grill.

One thing anyone heading up here should know is that there are no substantial grocery stores nearby. It is a really good idea to do major shopping before you head into the Germany Valley area.

That said, this cabin is on the road to the summit of Spruce Knob and a multitude of excellent hiking trails. This is one of the most beautiful areas in West Virginia and is great for a quiet visit where all you want to do is enjoy the beauty of the great outdoors. There is a lot of it here.

“Quiet cabin in a good location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 11, 2012 for a stay in October 2012

I chose this cabin due to its proximity to Spruce Knob for star gazing and photography - we had great views of the Milky Way. The cabin is fairly new, was spotless and well appointed. It is a few minutes away from Seneca Rocks and Nelson Rocks and is centrally located for day trips to Blackwater Falls State Park, Dolly Sods, the Highland Scenic Highway and scenic fall drives. If you don't feel like cooking, the Gateway Restaurant is just a few minutes away and had good home cooked food at great prices. I would recommend this to friends and would stay here again. If price is a constraint, they also have a less expensive small cabin with a sofa bed. One note - the whole area has terrible cell reception and the cabin has no TV or internet access, just a DVD player, so be prepared for an unplugged vacation.
