“Wonderful golf trip”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 6, 2013

Went to Stonewall Resort for a 3-day golf getaway. The golf course is really nice, with many beautiful views and with many challenging holes...for me at least! Each golf cart was equipped with GPS unit and the clubhouse has beautiful views of the course and lake. It was cart path only golf, due to the large amount of rain recently received, if you are one who has trouble walking up hills this may have been a bit of a challenge. Lightburn's Restaurant, located in the clubhouse, was really enjoyable.

The hotel lobby is a beautiful area. We stayed in a room with a lake view. The room had typical hotel room set-up. It was clean and very quiet on our floor (3rd). Along with Lightburn's, we also ate at TJ Muskies Lounge. Muskies is smaller, serving sandwiches, wraps, soups and salads, pizza etc. We enjoyed our food at Muskies and ate there both evenings. The larger restaurant in the resort is Stillwater's, the menu looked great but we weren't looking for a larger meal. We only had the breakfast buffet there, which was good. There was a guy playing a guitar each evening by the pool, fire pit area. He was enjoyable to listen to.

There appeared to be a lot to do for families...pool, kayaks, fishing, bike riding, kids craft area, etc. We just golfed, attempted to fish but the fishing boats were already rented out.

Room Tip: Ask for lake view.

My husband and I spent the weekend at Stonewall Resort for our 10 year wedding anniversary. The resort was beautiful, well maintained, clean, the staff was helpful and friendly. The lobby and huge fireplace was so warm and inviting. We ate at Stillwaters and TJ Muskies, it was good but not out of this world. The staff was a little slow. On Saturday night we went to dinner at Stillwaters and we waited for a good 45 minutes to get our check after we were done eating - our waitress had a table of maybe 15 people or so come in while we were eating. We understood but still it was a little frustrating to wait to get the bill. Overall, I felt the service at the restaurants were a bit slow as well as the service by the pool.
We took the Little Sorrel boat cruise at 2pm on Saturday, it was such a relaxing ride and the view was beautiful.
We had a view of the lake from our room, the room itself seemed a tad outdated. I feel like they put more emphasis on everything else in the resort and the rooms came last, which was ok with us since we were only there to sleep.
The pool was very nice too.
In the evening you can sit around by the fire pit and roast smores and enjoy live music.
We rented the paddle boats as well and had a nice time on the lake. The boardwalk on the lake is also something you want to go see.
Overall the trip was relaxing and wonderful. We will definitely be back. I have already recommended Stonewall Resort to a bunch of people!

Room Tip: Get a room with a lake view.

We only stayed here one might but the resort is in a beautiful location and is full of recreational amenities. It is the type of place where you really need to stay multiple nights to take advantage of all the area has to offer. I would say the rooms were average but the service, food, and recreational activities were excellent.

This was our first trip to Stonewall Resort. We were very impressed with the friendly staff. The area is very beautiful with rolling mountains everywhere you look. Our room was the king lake view . Large room very nice. We had the romance package. Champagne and large chocolate covered strawberries were delivered to our room in the evening. The breakfast buffet at the Stillwater Restaurant was also included. The resort felt like we were miles away from everything. We will definitely plan to return to the resort again in the near future.

Our family spent 3 days at the resort. Enjoyed the activities - pool, boat ride, paddle boards, kayaks, bikes, hiking. The concert on the lawn was wonderful. We played the gold course twice- it's beautiful and challenging. Would play it again. The rooms are pet friendly. Be aware of water proof mattress pads. They are incredibly loud. We changed our mattress pad at 3 am in the morning after locating house keeping. The food is average and high priced. Because of the location other food options are not near by.

We stayed at one of the cottages. The cottage was very clean, well maintained. However, they could cut the weeds and make the lake more accessible from the cottages. We had small children that day looking forward to playing on the bank of the lake. My biggest complaint is not having a place for a campfire, some of the best conversations occur around a campfire roasting the treat of choice, not having to go to the resort for a public campfire.
Overall this is a nice place to stay, but could be wonderful with better lake access from cottage, and a fire pit.
Great fishing. Nice pool. Beautiful scenery. Well kept facilities. Friendly staff. Nice marina. Great memories

My family and I stayed at Stonewall Resort while traveling to South Carolina. Both of our stays were enjoyable. The hotel was clean with a beautiful lakeside location. Many activities available. We look forward to returning during warmer weather. Would definitely stay again.

Room Tip: Ask for rooms near the elevators. Hallways are long and the walk can be a problem for older adults.
