I attend a bluegrass festival at this campground. The owners do a wonderful job!! As for the camping...nice...I know how to plan ahead. The town will provide you with all you need. Remember you are in the area for the outdoors, not shopping and restaurants.

The good:
--The campground is right next to a peaceful river. It's also within easy jogging/biking distance of a great bike trail.
--It was quiet at night...although constant rain might have had something to do with that.
--The owner was friendly, and so were some other campers we met.
--It seems you can get a campsite here most anytime.
--There's a good pizza restaurant, CJ's, not too far away.

The bad:
--There aren't many places to eat or shop in town. Travelers use this mainly as a launching place for recreational opportunities in the area. If the weather is poor, you're out of luck (or you do as we did: carry on amid the rain).
--There are no picnic tables at the campsites.
--Just one set of hooks is provided for the two showers in the women's bathhouse. And when someone enters the outer door, these showers are within sight of the outside, so unless you've got the curtain drawn, you're on display for all to see.
--The entrance to the campground passes by a junky municipal maintenance yard.

The ugly:
--The bathhouse is a converted trailer that sorely needs a good cleaning and painting.
--In fact, much of the town is like that: repairs left undone, things crumbling, junk strewn around yards. After a while, it gets depressing to be around such an atmosphere.
--Toilet paper in the women's bathhouse ran out on the first night of our two-night stay and was never replenished. I don't expect the Ritz when I'm camping, but is toilet paper in the bathroom too much to ask?
