We stayed here for one night after staying at the Travelodge all last week in Parkersburg. We travel a lot, and the newer Red Roofs are always better than every chain we go to. The furnishings has gotten a lot nicer looking, the beds are more comfortable, everything is sleek and pleasing. I can almost say that about our room this time, but there were just a few things that kept me from giving this place a 5 instead of a 4.
We arrived early as we do every other motel, and we our room with no wait at 10am. They put us on the 2nd floor (which usually isn't what I'd really like, but we're able bodied!), but it was right next to the stairs and the ice machine/laundry room. We had a King room (we didn't get the all-inclusive here....too expensive). The bed was very comfortable, and the comforter looked brand new (unlike what last week said..). I love how the headboard is also the nightstand, and that there are little cubby holes where there would be a drawer. There is a desk with a VERY comfortable desk chair for business, with a cool looking lamp on the desk. The TV was huge and had satellite (not cable!). I'm not a big fan of satellite myself, but when it rains (like it did all last week) it does get fuzzy. The sink was outside of the bathroom, and had lots of space for your toiletries and whatnot. The bathroom is my only complaint. It looked like they forgot it when they remodeled the room. The tub looks 30 years old and the shower head looks like it could fall off. It didn't seem as clean as the rest of the room did, but it wasn't dirty by any means.
This Red Roof has a few amenities that a lot of them don't have. There is an exercise room (it's almost identical to Travelodge's fitness room!), and a laundry room. Here is the kicker: The wireless high speed internet is actually FREE at this location! This Red Roof is a franchised one, so they don't have the T-Mobile Hotspot crap like all the other ones do! That was really shocking to me, but that's also why this Red Roof costs more a night than most. They still don't have breakfast, but atleast they have a coffee machine.
My partner and I live in hotels more than we do at home, and we always feel the most at home at a Red Roof (only the remodeled ones!). I could've stayed for a week!
