“Worth the trip”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 7, 2012

Our stay at Mardi Gras was better than we expected. We were one of two couples who were in town to visit family. Dinner at the French Quarter was excellent. Food, atmosphere and service made a great evening to visit. The casino and dog track provided fun and entertainment after dinner. Our room was better than we expected; comfortable beds and a relaxing Jacuzzi to round out the night.
The omelet chef is an amenity I rarely see. That touch made the breakfast start the day out right. The staff at the Mardi Gras is excellent, friendly and at the height of professionalism. The next trip won’t need an excuse to come and stay, Mardi Gras will be the destination.

Room Tip: WE paid extra for the exc suite but it was worth it.

My sister and I, along with our husbands came to the Mardi Gras Casino & Resort on the 4th and 5th of august.. We were referred to it by our cousin .. everything she said about it was far more then i could imagine.. first we were welcomed with friendly smiles.. When we reached our suite, we were like OMG... the bed was huge, the jacuzzi was awesome and very relaxing, while watching tv. Over all the room was clean and smelled fresh.. After we freshened up we went to the casino before dinner... which we ate at the French Quarter Resturant.. the food was SO delicious.... The casino was awesome, we even won !!! The next morning we went to the free breakfast, which was good.. On our departure we were again greeted with friendly smiles... We will be back,,,, Thanks Jerry and Lisa....

If you have never visited Mardi Gras Casino & Resort you will be in for a wonderful suprise. After looking for over an hour for a hotel we were told about this one, and boy were we happy. It was beautiful and clean. It even had a pleasant smell. The nite clerk was very nice. I did not like the alcohol in the room...its in a refrigerator with candy bars staring at me...I did not like the tempation. This is not good for busy children or someone with an alcohol problem. It should be in another area...but all together we enjoyed the hotel and had a very good nite sleep, and we will go back and tell others...WONDERFUL AND UNBELIEVABLE GETAWAY!!!

Room Tip: Our room was quiet...we do not gamble or drink alcohol.

A friend and I stayed 3 nights at this newer hotel. It was beautiful and spotless. The room was large & the 2 queen beds were comfy. Only high end linen and towels were used. The towels made into an elephant family was an adorable touch. The room had a Keurig coffee marker, two phones, large flat screen TV, safe, iron/board and a stocked frig (which I was told was weight sensitive so I didn't even open it). I wish that the room had a microwave & frig for our sodas and water. After reading reviews, I learned that the walls are thin, so I reserved a room (#441) on the top floor, far from the elevators. Our room had a hillside view & we were able to see the famous white/brown deer along with a couple other deer. The pool & hot tub had salt water in them. They were very relaxing as long as you got there before a pack of unruly screaming little kids did. The staff was very friendly, but the Bellman was obnoxious and way too pushy for a tip. The food at the First Turn Restaurant was great. I want to go back again soon, but next time I will do away with any help from the overbearing Bellman. Staying on Mon & Tues with a Players Card, the room only cost $79 + tax. Wed night was $109. The nearby Comfort Inn was $108. No comparison between the 2 hotels!

Room Tip: Hillside room on the top floor far away from the elevators. Don't ask for help from the overbea...

Just spent 4 nights at convention and stopped here on way home. The handicap room was beautiful, spacious, and great barrier free bathroom. Staff here were all so friendly and helpful. The breakfast, included, was great. Had fun at the dog races and casino. Special perk was to see deer grazing on hill just across parking lot in the evening! Too bad it is so far from my home or I would certainly return again. I would HIGHLY recommend the Mardi Gras Casino.

Room Tip: Ate at First Turn Restaurant on Sunday evening. Service was extremely slow - and not many patrons i...

My wife and I were able to get away for a date night and decided to try out the French Quarter Restaurant in the casino. The food was impeccable, the service was the best and the quality received for the price was amazing. I believe our server's name was Rich and he took care of us better than any server I can remember. Then we had a great time playing the tabel games. It was one of our best dates ever. Needless to say, we Ohioans are looking forward to our next trip to the Mountain State for the great food and fun!!! WV truly has a jewel with the French Qrtr and Casino.

We just returned from a one-night stay at the Mardi Gras casino and resort. It was really nice! The front desk staff was extremely friendly and welcoming. The king bed room was very clean, new decor, very nice. There is an IPHONE docking station in the room, so you dont need to pack your charger. The fridge is only for the hotel's drinks, so you will need to bring a cooler if you want to keep any cold beverages in your room. Ice machines are on every floor. The pool area is very nice. Its an indoor pool and hot tub, with mounted TVs in the corners and lots of lounge chairs and table/chair sets. When the weather is nice, the pool area opens up to an outdoor patio, which has a good variety of music piped in and lots of outdoor seating. The lobby bar is close enough to get your drinks and walk back and forth to the pool. The workout room is rather small, just the basics, and it is open to the pool area, so you will be seen by all the pool guests while you are working out. Pool opens at 6am which is nice, closes at 10pm. Checkout for the hotel is not until 12pm, which is later than most hotels these days. The breakfast is complimentary, and it is quite a spread. There is a made-to-order omelet station, and there is also a buffet with eggs, bacon, sausage, ham, potatoes, bagels, etc..its a FULL breakfast! But it's only open until 9am on weekends and 10am on weekdays, so you gotta get out of bed to enjoy it! If you miss it, there is a brunch on the weekends inside the casino. The rooms have Keurig coffee makers in them. Overall, this hotel is very nice and we had a great stay here!

Room Tip: no fridge in the room so bring a cooler!
