“Nice room, friendly staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 13, 2014

Stayed here for a night during the week. Our room was large, 2 queen beds and one large bathroom. Room seemed cleaned and maintained. The hotel is one block off the main street that has a mix of restaurants and stores. Chestnut Boutique Hotel offers coffee and some light wrapped pastries for breakfast. A great plus was free parking. Also WiFi is available free of charge. The staff was really friendly and helped out with suggestions for lunch. Would stay there again if we were in the area.

We stayed here for a night on our way to Florida because it had such good reviews. I found that we had mixed feelings about this hotel. For the good - the hotel was clean and well maintained with nice furniture and a comfy king bed. It also had one the the nicest Jacuzzi tubs in our room of any hotel I have stayed at.
The bad - the hotel is in a pretty shabby part of downtown, and quite a drive away from the main highway. The breakfast was a joke - poor coffee and pre-wrapped stale pastries in the lobby. never saw such a poor continental breakfast in all my travels. Front desk staff looked bored and uninspired. I dont think we would stay here again. Look for the chain hotels right off the highway instead.

Room Tip: Not a hotel for children. Stay at the chain hotels near the main highway

Stayed at the Chestnut Hotel for two nights visiting WVU and loved it. Have already booked another return trip. The entire staff could not have been more friendly and helpful. Our room was huge with a beautiful bathroom and large shower. Everything was spotless. The location is great, being one block off the main drag and easy walk to restaurants, bars, and shopping. All this at a great price. Would definitely recommend the Chestnut Hotel.

Stayed here two nights while on a long road trip. Both times, everyone I encountered on staff was friendly and helpful. The rooms are very spacious: we chose a king suite to accommodate the family, and there was a lot of room for the baby to crawl around safely and to have a separate space to sleep. One minor complaint: the low lighting throughout the suite went beyond moody; it made us feel that we were going blind. This isn't a deal-breaker, though: with everything else the Chestnut has going for it, we would stay there again.

This was a one night stay to visit our son at WVU before heading to Baltimore for a cruise. This hotel had great parking, early check in, wonderful ambiance! The room was huge, even the bathroom, which was extraordinary. Loved the lobby and the roof top deck with huge hot tub and nice views of Morgantown. I love boutique hotels and was happy that this new one was available. Its also pretty much soundproof, so not too much noise from the college kids downtown!!

Room Tip: I just asked for high floor, quiet room, and that's what I got!

Happened upon the Chestnut Boutique Hotel while driving west and what a lucky happenstance this was. The room was excellently priced and the hotel provided a military discount. The lobby is very welcoming, clean and not overcrowded with solicitations or needless furniture. Our room was a great size with 2 queen sized beds, a good sized tv and a beautiful bathroom with a large shower. Everything about this hotel was spotless.
The location of the hotel was also fantastic. It's one block off the main drag which allows a quick walk to many restaurants, bars, desserts and shopping. The parking garage shared with a rooftop bar next door also provides free parking for guests in a very interestingly decorated garage / staircase.
The only reason we are not giving a positively endorsed 5 star rating are 2 things: (1) the parking garage "stalls" are not well marked thus when we were leaving a car was actually parked in the driving path and (2) likely due to the low number of guests the night we stayed, the advertised continental breakfast turned out to be a few granola bars, apples and orange juice. Even given these 2 concerns, we would definitely stay here again. Overall our stay was a very positive experience.

Third time staying at the gracious and fabulously appointed Chestnut Hotel. If you've ever been to Morgantown on WVU move out day you know what it is like here with traffic and parking. After a long day packing up our two students we retired to our oasis and new home away from home. Our suite can only be described as incredible with two rooms, each with a flat screen tv, wifi and the most comfortable beds I've had the pleasure to rest on. Staff was excellent as usual. My wife went for coffee and I asked for a green tea. They didn't have any. 20 minutes later a knock at my door and I was treated to the best green tea ever. The manager traveled a few blocks to a boutique tea store and picked it. Can't get much better service than that. And did I mention the parking garage and the roof top restaurant and bar? I'll tell you about that after our next stay in August for move in day. Lol. Thanks for a great stay.

Room Tip: Ask for a corner suite for sure. Best value available in Morgantown.
