“Not impressive and overpriced”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed August 11, 2009

Please don't visit this resort unless you golf.

We just got back from a family member's wedding and it was way overpriced and completely not worth it.

It started with the booking. My sister was told she was getting the best rate for her wedding. Well, we were given a rate of 129 dollars per night but the resort was advertising a 99 dollar rate online.

They charged us 10 dollars a night extra for a crib, despite the fact that there were only two of us in a room for four. The room acoomodated four but there were only towels enough towels for three. There were several engineering issues including a non working outlet and a broken closet door. Housekeeping servicer was decent but there were yellow spots all over the ceiling of our bathroom. The rooms are very small and our room had about a 19" tv, while another member of our family had about a 30" tv. The resort boasts high speed internet access, however, it is interminent, if existent at all.

They have a really nice indoor and outdoor pool. We utilized the indoor pool and had a very nice time. They have a small sign in your room that asks you not to take towels to your room to the pool, however, when we arrived at the pool (at ten am), there were only about three or four towels left.

There are very few dining establishments around so you have to eat at their resturant. We ate breakfast there and it was pretty good.

If you are thinking of booking a wedding there, please take heed. There were several challenges with the wedding as well. There were three children at the wedding and two of the three did not get high chairs until two thirds of the way though dinner. Items that were ordered as special surprises for members of the wedding party were paid for but never delivered to their rooms. The weding planner pushed a lot of what you think a wedding planner should do onto the bride. It was asked that members of the family were blocked together and that was not accomodated as well. There was a golf tournament at the same time and they were given priority for everything and it felt as if we, the wedding guests, were second class citizens.

We went during a "Bike" event and there were tons of bikers but the place was remarkably quiet. Bikers get a bad rap, and I will tell you, I will take the sounds of a Harley over children running up and down the hall (which did not occur). After check-in, the room we were given smelled heavily of smoke. When I complained to the front desk, they immediately gave me a different room which was perfectly smoke-free smelling. The beds were comfortable and clean. It was cozy and adequate. If you have a problem walking or are in a wheel chair, it would be difficult to get around this resort as the lobby is NOT connected to most of the other buildings and the outdoor pool is up a hill and the only way to get up there are by stairs. Their are two restaurants, a fancy one and a sports bar. We only ate at the sport bar are the food was really good. For the price, you cannot beat this resort. On one last note, the Fitness building and the Spa are not near the lobby or the guest suites. PS I am not a golfer and did not golf, but the ones who did looked like they were having fun and the staff really catered to them.

Attended a family wedding and reception (host hotel). Both nights of my stay (fri & sat), the place was a zoo. Bad front door layout can't proccess arival of event guests. Negative parking at these times - no plan B or auxillary parking lots. This place is the "standard" hick wedding place. Talked to the higher managment - he feels there is no problem. NOTE: if emergency equipment is required during one of these events, you are f---ed. Did I mention thatone of the other (of four) receptions had a "wedding fight" and some staff was injured. WiFi appears to only work in the lobby. Nice.

I booked through Hotwire..couldn't beat the $24 per night price tag. This is not a resort in terms of lavishness..I think they call it a resort because they have pools, restaurants, fitness center, and gold. The room was okay, need updating, but the bed was comfortable. It wasn't loud at all, but overall I think I would stay there again if I needed to do so. Can't beat the price.

I booked the Lakeview through priceline. My wife and I came into town late, almost 2 am. I called and they said it wouldn't be a problem. Upon arrival they were quite accomadating despite the late hour. Would love to stay here again.

I had the unfortunate experience of staying at this "resort" in mid-October 2008. While the room was acceptable (though dated) the rest of the facility was sub-standard. (badly stained hall carpets; disgusting swimming pool...)

What was most concerning is the LACK of SECURITY!! We arrived around 9:00 pm and were directed to drive around to door # 7.

These exterior doors open directly onto the hotel floors where the rooms are and HAVE NO LOCKS ON THEM! Anyone can walk in at any hour. As a woman traveling with children I was shocked.

Finding the entrance itself was another challenge. While the doors are marked, the numbers are directly under the lights and you cannot read them without getting out and walking up to each door.

The coup de grace for me was the rusty hot water the next morning when I went to bathe. Never again.

My family stayed here in July. It was the best overall vaction in recent memory. The staff was very friendly and bent over backwards to make sure we were happy. The food in the restaurant was outstsanding. They had a someone carving prime rib. We played on both courses. I have to tell you that in the middle of July, admist the heat, both were plush green and in great shape. We will definatly be back.
