“Wedding”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 31, 2013

Attended my niece's wedding this past weekend, as usual Lakeview did a fabulous job. The amenities, food and service were excellent. The Library and Reflections rooms were perfect for her wedding. The beautiful views of Cheat Lake from Reflections added to this lovely day. The staff and management always go out of their way. Thank you Lakeview!!!

For the price, you can stay at a Holiday Inn and have twice the amenities. There are no in-room refrigerators, unless you want to pay an add'l $10 per night. The rooms were clean, but extremely small for a double. Parking is another issue. Sharing parking with the golfers, wedding guests, and visitors creates a situation where you must park fairly far from the resort and haul your luggage a great distance. There should be a special parking area for golfers and a guest parking area for wedding guests so that the spaces closest to the rooms are available.

We had family and friends in several different rooms and all voiced their disappointment with the lack of amenities available for hotel guests. We also utilized 2 condo units. Those were fairly roomy. There is no indoor pool, hot tub, game room or kids play area at the hotel. There is a small play area at the condo area.

Our room had 2 beds and a pull out and came equiped with only 2 towels, no blanket for the pullout (in any of our rooms or condos), and a poor selection of coffee. (No tea at all.) When a family member requested additional towels one evening and a blanket for the pull-out, she was told she would have to wait until housekeeping came by the next day to request those items.

We were there for a wedding, one of several that weekend, and the wait staff at the reception was fantastic. They weren't much for conversation, but did provide us with meals and drinks, and kept the areas clean during the event.

At the end of the event, the staff was helpful in removing items and making sure that things weren't left behind by guests or the bridal party. Items were stored appropriately until the next morning when they could be removed.

For the price, I would not recommend this "resort" unless you are an avid golfer or attending an on-site conference or family gathering. I have stayed at this resort several times for business conferences. This was my first personal stay.

My parents traded in their Orlando timeshare, so that we could attend graduation celebrations for my nephews in Morgantown. We aren't golfers and found that there isn't much to do besides spend time in the Fitness Center. But we had some great workouts! The Fitness Center has a lap pool, hot tub, wet and dry saunas, a variety of fitness classes, good equipment and even a babysitting room. The staff at the Fitness Center were a great help to my elderly parents - picking them up & dropping them off between the room and the Center in a golf cart.
The condo rooms aren't new. I had to sleep on a sofa bed, and the mattress was in pretty bad shape. We found the water to be pretty hard, so it felt like I had chlorine in my hair the whole week. And the shower stall wasn't very clean.
When we used the hotel pool (because the Fitness Center closed early on the holiday weekend), there weren't enough clean towels. There was a locked emergency phone box in the pool area, but no phones to the hotel lobby to request more towels.

We, along with another couple, just spent two days at the Lakeview Resort on a golf package. While the golf course has seen better days, it is still in reasonably good shape. The tee boxes and cart paths are in need of some "fixing". Their golf package includes two rounds of golf (one on Lakeview and one on The Mountain Course) It also includes a room for two, dinner and breakfast for two. It is actually a very good deal. We will take advantage of it again. The inn is dated but kept up well. The beds were comfortable and the rooms very clean. We decided to have our dinner in the Legends Sports Bar. The food was quite good!! The staff were all friendly and helpful. We must point out two members of the staff there that were outstanding ... Mercedes at the front desk and Kara in at the Legends both deserve a well done!!

Room Tip: Take advantage of their package deals. You really can't go wrong.

The grounds are pretty! The beds were very comfortable. The shower had great water pressure and lots of hot water. The kids loved the indoor pool. The view from the restaurant is beautiful. The University room was a great place for the event we attended.

We checked in at 12:30 AM and Logan, the night clerk, could not have been more helpful and professional. He stopped what he was doing when I walked in and got me checked in rapidly. I asked about breakfast and the workout area. He walked me down to where the restaurant is located and briefed me about breakfast (There is regular breakfast and a buffet. There is a person there to make personalized omlettes), Then he took me outside and showed me where the fitness center was located and explaned how it worked (There is a coed steam room, separate saunas, a hot tub, and lap pool. The fitness center opens at 5:30 AM). The daytime staff was also very pleasant and helpful. This is not a new place; however, it is very well maintained. I would not hesitate to stay here again.

I worked with this hotel/conference center to set up a conference for 25 people coming from 5 different states and meeting in Morgantown. I booked a conference room, equipment, and got a block for hotel rooms for the participants. The staff was incredible- the best I've encountered at any conference. Very professional and helpful. The conference meeting room was set up exactly the way I wanted it, and the room was beautiful, comfortable and clean. The individual hotel rooms were also comfortable and clean. I highly recommend it. The only reason I didn't give it five stars is because the phone lines went out several times while I was there (it was windy), and the fire alarm went off at 1 am for no perceptible reason.
