This is a truly unique inn with fabulously friendly owners. I highly recommend staying here! My boyfriend and I stayed one night in October 2009 after spending the day on the Cass Mountain Railroad. It's about 20 minutes away from Cass and perfectly located along the route back to DC. In a rural and scenic mountain valley, the inn is cozy, warm and welcoming. The owners and their son (the inn's chef) live in the adjoining old farmhouse -- the inn's guest rooms are located in an adjoining garden-style building. They are very colorfully decorated and each has a unique theme. The innkeepers both have PhDs and are very smart and interesting and have worked in organizational management and personal coaching and are willing to talk about their experiences. It's a truly intellectual place with an enormous (and beautiful) library and game room (and a DVD collection to rival Blockbuster). We ate dinner and breakfast there and both meals were homecooked to perfection. We were also given a tour of the farm in the morning and got to feed the llamas, horses, sheep, and goats.
We absolutely loved this inn and would recommend it to anyone. Clean, affordable, friendly, unique, and definitely not your typical hotel. It's a perfect getaway.
