“a place to get away from the usual”

The Mountain Quest Inn is located in Frost, W. Va. This is a place to come to to explore the beautiful countryside , visit the Green Bank Observatory, etc. The rooms are unique and lend themselves to each person's interests. Be forewarned that this area does not allow cell phones or other electronic devices....due to the observatory. If you want peace and quiet along with exploring the area, this is ideal. It is a RETREAT. The owners are amazing and offer much in their expertise. We loved the time to be in the mountains with peace and time to reflect and to explore the beauty of this area.

Love this inn and it is perfect! The innkeepers ate friendly and make you feel very welcomed! We stayed in the Safari Room which was african safari themed! The breakfast each morning qas delicious and you can even have dinner made for you as well! It is located in a quiet zone meaning you will not have cellphone service but the idea is perfect and you should enjoy rhe peacefulness instead of being on your cellphone!

The Mountain Quest Inn is located in Frost Va surronded by beautiful mountain scenery. The owners are very very friendly, and make sure that your stay is enjoyable. The Inn is one of a kind, and the rooms are very clean and comfortable. Also the buffet for breakfast and dinner is delicious and they use linen and silver. We also enjoyed riding up to Snowshow Resort to spend the day, only about 45 minutes away.It was a perfect weekend, and the only suggestion i would give is to take snacks and a cooler for drinks, because there are no stores close by.

If you're looking for a place to get away from it all and disconnect from the world for a while, then this is the place to go. We were to be here for two-nights but our stay here was cut short by an approaching ice storm. When we checked in, a friendly staff member, Theresa, showed us around. The amenities here are more than anyone can ask for. We stayed in the beautiful Fantasy Room which had an amazingly comfortable king-size bed and was wonderfully decorated. The 2-story library is unbelievable. Check out the pictures on their website. We had a great time just looking around and listening to the auto-player on the baby grand piano. Then we played some eight ball on the 9-foot billiards table in the game room while listening to CD's on the Wurlitzer jukebox.
The reason I say you'll be "off the grid" is because the Inn is located in the Radio Quiet Zone which is a 13,000 square mile rectangle surrounding the National Science Foundation's Green Bank Radio Telescope. You can read more about that here: https://science.nrao.edu/facilities/gbt/. So, don't worry about your cell phone because there is no coverage. But, if you must have some connections, there is free wi-fi throughout the inn and worked well in our room.
The Innkeepers, David and Andrew, are very friendly and very willing to share their experiences. Be sure to ask for a tour of the farm. We spent some time with David and Andrew and were very impressed with their love and care of the animals. Kids will love the llamas, horses, goats and miniature horses.
Because of our abrreviated stay, we only had the opportunity to enjoy one breakfast and it was very good. We hope to make it back when the weather isn't quite as unpredictable!

We returned here again this month and brought another party with us. After describing our December visit here, we almost had three others join us if not for the sudden two feet of snow falling that halted their eagerness to travel 4 hours from home in a snowstorm. Beginning from Parkersburg, WV, we needed to make a stop in Canaan Valley on the way. Weather was a fresh deep snowfall that greatly slowed us. Upon arrival, we found the Inn was full despite snow obstacles. The game room was lively with adults at billiards, kids watching big screen tv movies, playing arcade video games, and admiring the cool popcorn street vendor cart. Other guests were cozy and nestled in plush couches in the two story library, some others in the conference room were enjoying lively chatter, and even more were browsing and reading in the gift shop and night photography gallery area. It was a very warm Inn arrival. We enjoyed a snowy stroll around the grounds with Alex Bennet, the Innkeeper. She prepared hot cocoa when we returned and charmed us with intriguing tales of Inn activities since our last visit a month earlier. We enjoyed a wondeful buffet breakfast. served in a warm paneled conference room. (When large groups fill the Inn, breakfast moves from their two smaller breakfast dining areas to this elegant larger space. It also changes from order what you like to having many options from which we tried and enjoyed all.) We spent Saturday at our usual local stops: Dunmore's fresh bakery; local art galleries in Green Bank where the staff offers lessons in painting, pottery, or drawing; and Snowshoe Mtn. Resort for shopping, lunch offerings at several fine eateries, skiing, and photography of the heavy snow civered ridges. Saturday night featured a special dinner served by Chef Andrew. Scrumptious chicken, stir fry shrimp, fresh pastas including super mac n cheese for kids, and pizza geared for kids but also served to many adults as well. After dinner and personalized entertainment in the gallery, Alex took a group of ten of us out for a night photography session filled with excitement and lots of laughing. Farm tours and meeting the residents (charming llamas, horses, miniature horses) were provided both mornings after breakfast. We hope to come back next month to relax and escape here.

This is a wonderful place to get away and relax. The owners make you feel like part of the family. It is a very unique experience to stay there. I would highly recommend it to individuals, couples and families. I have stayed there several times and will return every chance I can.

FANTASTIC food, and very accommodating service. We called from Snowshoe Resort at 6:00 to see if it was too late to order dinner, and they held the buffet for us until we arrived (it's a long drive)...and everything was fantastic from the veggie stir fry to the chocolate chip brownies. Breakfast was no less fabulous (well, the coffee was nothing to write home about, but everything else was great). The rooms are quirky in their themes and quite comfortable, and the game room, library, and jacuzzi will have us returning for a longer stay. A great place to hang out with friends!

The owners have collected an odd assortment of items to explore, from Indonesian marionettes to vintage musical instruments to music boxes. They have an extensive library, both of books and videos, so no need to bring your own. The owners also enjoy discussing the intriguing and odd photos they've taken of mist around the property...but aside from that distraction it was a wonderful getaway.
