“The 'real' Biker Valhalla”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 16, 2014

I stayed at this B & B, not the Marlinton Motor INn.....
Took a last minute cycle ride to this "playground" area of WV, after reviewing a great article in "RIDER" cycle magazine about the great roads and attractions, and was lucky enough to snag the last room via an email to Andrea and Nelson. Wonderful accomodations, family atmosphere, and meeting other bikers with twisted, scenic roads as a common thread was fantastic! Nelson has the skinny on great rides in the area ( a biker himself) and all the maintenance fluids any biker would need..plus covered storage area for the bikes! If you want the best riding experience in the east, ie, nearly vacant, clean, and well maintained roads, reasonable, if any, speed limits and superb vistas, not to mention that most locals in cars move right to let you pass!... then check out this area and B & B. Nelson and Andrea go out of there way to make your stay friendly and delightful. "I'll be baaak!"
Jim

Room Tip: It's all good.

We always get a little “rush” when another motorcyclist discovers our little piece of riding heaven. And if they take a liking to our inn it’s that much better! Thanks for choosing us over that other place and for sharing your experience. Hope to see you again before season’s end!

We were traveling the great Appalachian mountain roads and stayed at the Old Clark Inn in Marlington. Extremely clean with very comfortable beds. It is kind of like an old-fashioned boarding house in the middle of this little town. The owners own and like motorcycles so they have a little covered shed with old rags and a hose to wipe down your bikes. When we were there, there were four other bikers to compare notes with.
They have a nice enclosed lawn area behind the building with chairs, picnic tables, and a fire ring
You can bring your own food and store it in the fridge in the dining area. There is a comfortable living room with a fireplace. Be sure to read the newspaper article about the hotel's history written by the Mrs. innkeeper
The continental breakfast was simple but adequate. The inn is right next to the Greenbrier River Trail which I ran in the morning and we walked in the evening after supper.
Marlington is struggling to come back after devastating floods and economic hard times. So don't expect lots of services. But this small hotel - built in the 1920's will surprise you. And such a quiet night's sleep!

Room Tip: There are several different size room to chose from. Tell the innkeepers what you need.

We are a little unusual, aren’t we? Thanks for noticing and for appreciating the little things that make our place special.

We booked this B&B for our Motorcycle group in June. It was a cute, homey, little place that had everything we needed. They have a diversity of room types, a lot of common areas, and an enclosed back yard that we could set out in with late night bonfires. They had a wash and service area for motorcycles. The owners were friendly, and helpful. They obviously took pride in their B&B as it was immaculately clean. Our group of almost twenty felt like we were home away from home. You are with in walking distance of several restaurants and the tourist center. The grocery is just a couple minutes away. If we are near there we will stay there again.

Room Tip: Talk to the owner about the type of room you want verses price.

I stayed for the second time at The Old Clark Inn. The decor is homey with antiques and quilts. Breakfast is simple but fills the tummy. Very Clean!!!!! The location in the center of Marlinton was perfect as we were there for genealogy research.

There are limitations in the age of the building but that is part of the appeal. If you expect a large room with a big screen TV and a pool then time to go pay more than double and head a half hour north to Snowshoe.
First let's start with the location. Your cell phone will not work. Maybe if you have AT&T and some TRAC phones. The rest of us give up but you can make free phone calls. There is free Wi Fi so your tablet and phone can be used. This is right beside the Greenbrier bicycle trail and some of the best motorcycling roads to be found. The proprietor can tell you the good roads as he rides also. There is a decent continental breakfast. Nothing fancy but good. The room is small but spotlessly clean and well maintained. Sitting on the front porch you can have a nice conversation with other guests or the owner if he has time to sit down. Between him and his wife they are kept busy.
As for your bike it gets covered parking for a limited number of bikes depending on how friendly you want them to be. A hose and towels are there to wipe them off.

Room Tip: Rooms come in private bath or shared. Make sure you specify.

Thanks for telling it like it is and we really wish we did have more time to sit on the porch and chat with our guests--it’s the best part of being an innkeeper-- but being busy is a good thing I guess! Looking forward to your next visit and a little more porch time.

I was traveling by motorcycle, touring the great roads around WV, and staying at the Inn for two nights was a great experience. The couple that runs the place were really friendly and helpful, and I really appreciated how they cater to motorcyclists.

The Old Clark Inn is perfect for us two-wheel travelers to the Marlinton area. In our case, this was a motorcycle trip to Cass and to ride the area backroads. The location of the Inn is perfect for this but we quickly realized that it's also perfect for bicyclists riding the Greenbriar Trail (there were several groups staying over the Memorial Day weekend). Nelson and Andrea go way out their way to make sure that motorcyclists and bicyclists have everything they need and they sincerely want you to have a good time. The Inn is a historic and mostly original hotel so there is lots to appreciate there as well. And no, it's not the Ritz Carlton and those of you pampered Elites who are slamming the place in the reviews obviously didn't read the website very carefully. Good grief... learn how to read and lighten up. You get more than you were promised at this Inn and so the value is outstanding. We look forward to going back again.

Thank you, thank you, thank you--for reminding people to look at the website. We have put a lot of time and effort into the website so that you would know what to expect. And we are always happy to make recommendations if the Old Clark is not what you are looking for.
Thanks for the great review!
