7 of us stayed in Cherokee last week. We had a great time. The cabin is a little small but we still had an awesome time. We were even treated to a beautiful snow fall! The showers are very small but overall the cabin was wonderful! We plan to stay again!!

Never having come to this area before, I found it challenging to determine where exactly to stay and have access to the activities (primarily rafting) that our family wanted to try. After looking at a lot of TripAdvisor reviews, we picked Country Cabins, staying for two nights. We told the office we would be having a late arrival, and they left the key for us at the cabin - we paid for the stay in advance. Access to the cabins was pretty easy to locate from the main road, though the road back to the cabins themselves was pretty rustic (and I imagine could be challenging in wintry or heavy rainy weather). We had the back cabin in the complex, and it was great - well separated from the other cabins and fully tucked into the heavy woods. It seemed a bit pricey to me ($215 a night plus taxes), but that also seemed consistent with other lodgings in this area in peak summer season. Just a bit higher than I'm used to for a cabin away from any town area.

We stayed in a one bedroom cabin (Almost Heaven) with a large bed and a fold out couch. The cabin wasn't overly large but was spacious enough for the 3 of us to be comfortable. The kitchen had essential utensils and a full sized fridge. The best surprises? A gas grill and a hot tub on the back porch (both of which we used during our stay)! The front and back porches were wonderful places to hang out.

I lucked out on our rafting - it was only 10-15 minutes away from the cabin on the New River the next morning. There was a grocery store within about 5-10 minutes, and a gas station right up at the main road. When we checked out, the office was again closed (Saturday morning), but we were able to drop off the key at the main office, on the road out of the cabin complex.

Room Tip: The webite shows all of the different cabins and their availability, so it's pretty easy to see...

How refreshing to stay in a place so clean and well placed. It was so easy to make the reservation and we were looking forward to our trip. We wanted a hot tub but that was a let down. It needs some serious attention in the circulation and in keeping the temperature up. Our plans were to spend as much time in it as possible and we actually only used it one time. Disappointing. Our grill had seen better days and was difficult to light. For the price we paid we could go to Tennessee for a longer stay and have a better place with a pool table and jacuzzi. Good location and very scenic and peaceful.

My girlfriend well (Fiance) and I stayed in the Almost Heaven Cabin, It was the best weekend ever. If you love the outdoors then Country Roads is the place to go. My Fiance loves it the most I think.

We stayed at Country Road Cabins (group of 9 people - 2 cabins next to each other) for a long weekend and it could not have been more perfect. The cabins are clean, beautiful, and roomy and have all the amenities that are needed for a long weekend. Hot tub was clean, large bathrooms, beds were comfortable, private porches had amazing views and having all this be so close to the New River Gorge, it could not have been better! This place is really a unique find in WV.
The staff at Country Road Cabins could not have been more accommodating, friendly and supportive in helping us plan (and book) our rafting and outdoor adventures. They really know the area and were so helpful in making it a great family vacation.
Why stay in a large busy campground or packed in with 30 other cabins when you can stay in the middle of the WV woods with a private cabin all to your selves. It will be an easy decision next time we come back..... Country Road Cabins is where to stay!

Room Tip: Check out the website and pick a cabin that has enough room for the whole group. Don't try to pa...

We experienced fantastic service at country road cabins. The cabin was lovely and clean but it was the service that was beyond expectations. We were booked for White water rafting and had no transport to get there, but cabin management made sure we got there and back. The cabin was well appointed, quiet and very private, clean and within a short distance to all the adventure companies. I would strongly recommend these cabins to anyone visiting this area.

These cabins are really nice and well maintained. There are several to choose from ranging from small to large! Near some great hiking and the New River Gorge is beautiful. We have been two years in a row and plan on going back.
