“My sister's wedding”

Foxwood was an amazing place for a wedding. If you are looking for complete freedom and peacefulness, it's for you. We basically had the entire complex rented with our friends and family. It was breathtakingly beautiful. We all relaxed and had a wonderful time. The innkeepers are very helpful and easygoing. Our expereince was exceptional and I would highly recommend this destination to anyone for any event.

Holy Cow. We can not express enough our gratitude toward Jack, Betty & Kevin for hosting all our friends and family for our wedding at their Mulberry House. Not only did they help us throw the perfect event, but we filled the inn and the two other houses with family and friends. No one has said anything but wonderful things about this secluded retreat, where you can time-warp back to simpler days, and get lost in the comfort of family, friends and the views. Everyone complimented the hospitality, Mrs. Betty's fantastic breakfast, and the absolutely beautiful scenery. The accommodations are to die for, from the pillowy king size beds in every room, to the amazing breakfast. All this, and more, has made our time here something to remember. It could not have been more perfect. We will definitely be back with all our friends! The family is already talking about coming back next year for a reunion.

Our hosts were super accommodating and friendly toward everyone the encountered. Even after everyone was gone, we sat and conversed for over an hour about everything under the sun, and what a gorgeous place West Virginia, Mountain Momma', really is. Thank you, thank you, thank you - for everything.

We stayed here overnight after our daughter's wedding at Mulberry House, another house on the property. This inn is as beautiful inside as out. There are two ponds on the property: one is right outside the front door, and the other is down over the hill. What a beautiful place to stay! The interior contains a library, and the dining room has the biggest table I have ever seen. Our room was lovely. It had hardwood floors and a large bathroom. Breakfast the next morning was plentiful: eggs, bacon, toast, and fruit. The owners made us feel right at home.
The only downside to Foxwood Inn is the drive to get to it. It is 10 miles off the main road, and the last mile is not paved.. The price of the rooms is very reasonable. If you are looking for a place to "get away from it all," this is it.

I would highly recommend staying at Foxwood (Linden House) as long as the roads are clear. We stayed there while skiing at Winterplace and it was perfect for 2 families of 4ppl each (plus a dog), however the trek to/from the mountain was quite difficult due to all of the snow in the winter of 2009/2010. Granted, the owner Betty advised of such prior to booking and confirmed that we had 4WD, but you can't truly grasp the conditions until you are actually driving them! Definitely no going back-and-forth for lunch or forgotten items. However, this was a freak winter season so it should be OK during normal conditions.

The house was 4BDRM/4 1/2 baths and perfect for us. All of the cooking stuff you need and tons of room to hang out. There are actually 2 fireplaces and there was plenty of wood provided by Betty. She also allowed us to bring our dog who enjoyed romping the compound and chasing the critters.

We truly loved this house and hope to go back in the future. Just be aware of road conditions and call Betty for information in advance!

We recently stayed at the Linden House, part of the Foxwood Inn in Flat Top, West Virginia. We rented Linden House for a week and, although we didn't stay in the Inn, many of the experiences are shared.

Jack and Betty Elwood are very pleasant hosts, and Linden House is beautiful. Its interior is essentially as shown in the website photos, and you will not be disappointed. The furnishings are also first class, and each bedroom has a comfortable king-sized bed.
Although the interior of Linden House was near perfect, the exterior has succumbed to the weather. Unfortunately, the "screened porch" as shown in the website's photo no longer has screens, and two of the three screen doors accessing the rear decks need repair.

The scenery is impressive -- the back of Linden House faces Flat Top Mountain, and views extend down the valley to distant mountains. It is also quiet and secluded. You don't have to worry about noisy neighbors!

The Foxwood Inn is ideal for retreats that fully utilize this beautiful setting. It may be less suitable for those seeking a base of operation for touring the region. It takes about one-half hour to drive to/from the Ghent exit (28) on I-77 and Foxwood, primarily because the roads are rolling, winding, and narrow. As long as you factor in that one-half hour drive, your touring decisions become much easier.

Also, the final mile from Bolen Road to the Foxwood Inn is along a one-lane unimproved dirt and gravel road cut into a hillside. An SUV is definitely preferable to a sedan for driving on this road. But don't let that hold you back. You will love the beauty and seclusion of Foxwood. It IS worth the effort!

my wife and i just stayed at a wonderful inn called foxwood just south of beckley near winterplace resort.
this hideaway in located on 250 secluded acres in the mountains of west virginia
the inn is a 12,000 square foot home with 8 bedrooms that are more suites than rooms large and furnished like most luxury 5 stars hotels.
all have adjacent sitting rooms, fireplaces, satelite tv, vcrs, and private baths.
the main inn has luxury for about the price of a hotel room, but you must see it to believe it. the price is very reasonable, but the experience is unforgetable.
you will not believe the huge library room, the magnificent dining room, a gallery with a baby grand piano, and a living room overlooking ponds and waterfalls, a screened porch and wrap around deck with wonderful spectacular mountain views.
there are additional houses the mulberry house (8 bedrooms) and the linden house (4 bedrooms) that are both new and fully furnished like the main foxwood inn on the property.
jack and betty the owners made us feel like family the moment we arrived for our 2 night stay there.
the breakfasts were so delicious and huge we could not eat all that was prepared by betty.
the inn is located near winterplace ski resort in flat top, and south of beckley , wva close to everything .
we were made to feel more like family than just guests.
betty said they can accommodate family reunions, weddings, honeymoons, and company parties and conferences also.
we encourage all who are traveling through west virginia to definitely make this a must stop destination.
the experience will last for a lifetime.
take a word for it.
