“You don't have many choices here”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed October 11, 2011

A group of friends of which I am a member have been enjoying whitewater rafting in this area of West Virginia for over a decade. We often stay at this hotel which has steadily grown more in decay each year. While the location is prime the facilities are in disrepair.

Upon our arrival we were met by a surley night clerk who could not have been more disinterested in her job or that she was actually involved in a hospititality industry. She did say she was having a rough night.

We ordered through our reservation call 2 roll away beds for the two night stay and spoke to the office attendant about them at check in. When we arrived at the rooms no beds were there and we had to wait to receive them to get settled in for the evening.

The rooms were in disrepair as well. One of our doors had signs of previously being kicked in, 2 stink bugs were found in the room, stains on the carpet and walls, along with and overall dingy look to it.

While six men are not overly picky where they stay on a rafting trip...heck we just want a clean room near a bar usually. This facility is showing it's age and needs updated. Beware if your picky about such things. On the plus side Elliott's Sports Bar is just a few feet from the rooms and has a good selection of food, wide screen TV's, adult beverages and nice folks who work there.

Room Tip: Take some Raid and/or a fly swatter.

This was a stop on our trip from Wilmington N.C. to Erie,Pa. Based upon the reviews here, we got just what we expected. The room was a bit dated, the furniture old and somewhat abused, but it was clean and the beds were comfortable. I think it was expensive for what it is, but I guess you are paying for the location. We have paid less for much more in other areas.

Room Tip: all rooms open to the outside-ala old motel style.

Stayed here prior to doing the double upper on the Gauley River. Room was large & clean with fridge & coffee maker. Sports bar on site had NFL Sunday ticket so I could watch my Eagles play the Rams. Good food & price. Would stay again.

We were in Fayetteville to see the New River Gorge Bridge and the surrounding areas. Very close to the bridge. This is a basic hotel but it was clean, peaceful and the room was good. Breakfast was ample. The front desk added $1.50 @ per night in the bill without informing me for the metal safe they have in the room. I did not need and use the safe. After checking the receipt I asked them to remove this and they did but it is not good on their part. There is a Dairy Queen and the US 19 goes in the front. We ate our ice cream sitting under the trees between the hotel and DQ and enjoyed the weather and traffic.

The visit to the Bridge, Old bridge and falls is a must and views are excellent. The visitor center on the other side of the park near the falls also has excellent views and scenery.

I stayed two nights and was pleasantly surprised.

While not immaculate, the rooms are well kept and fresh linens, soap, shampoo are kept stocked. The room comes with a fridge and microwave (this was banged up). The cable TV has about 60 different stations which is good after a hard day of river rafting. The breakfast included waffles, yogurt, muffins, donuts, eggs, cereal. Most importantly, this is strategically situated 5-6 miles from the rafting outfits.

This is not the Ritz but for the money it is a good value. I will stay here again next year.

This is a standard off road motel. Has a nice bar/restaurant on site and close to activities. Had no problems but don't expect too much in high quality here. Right place for the price though given the convenience.

We book at a Comfort Inn down the road, pool was closed, so they moved us to this location. I am not comfortable with doors facing the parking lot, and thats what you have here. The room was dank and so dated. The bathroom door was warped and overall the unit was plain old icky. The kids did get to swim, but the room you had to walk thru to get to the pool, a laundry room was filled with mud on the floor, no towels available. Front desk was nice, but had no clue how to utilized the Choice Priviledges program. It was very close to white water rafting, for that we were glad. The breakfast was good, even though the server looked grouchy.
