My wife and I booked a cabin at New River Cabins at the last minute. There are four cabins here on a county road right of the freeway. Cabins are about 4 miles from New River Gorge and about 10 miles from Summersville Lake.
These cabins opened in late 2009 and are still in good shape. The interior of each cabin has a shower, kitchenette, full size refrigerator, microwave, and coffee maker. There are 2 beds down stairs and 6 upstairs. No living or dining area and chairs and table inside are the fold up kind. A TV with Direct TV service is available, however, we never got it to work.
However the parking area needs a load of gravel and some serious trimming and weed thatching. From the outside the general appearance is poor and un-kept. I first wondered what I had done! With a decent amount of work the outside "ambiance" would seal the deal.
If you're more into the area activities and not hanging out at the cabin, this is the place for you! Everything you need is there and close to area attractions. If you want serenity and great landscapes to view this is not what you are looking for. Great for climbers and those rafting on the New River.
Owners are very nice people and very service minded. A book is provided for area information and a journal for all occupants to write in to pass on to the next occupant. That was a nice touch. I would stay here again.
