“Thin Walls - Springy Bed”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 11, 2013 via mobile

First time staying at the hotel. Room was clean and roomy. But around 2:30 am and at 4:00 am and 5:30 am, I could hear the snoring of the guest in the next room. The bed was quite springy, every time I moved or my husband moved we could feel the movement. Very bad sleeping experience. Shower was nice and room amenities were good. We had a "balcony" room, but balcony had no chairs so we brought the two from the room, straight back, outside. We sat out for about 15 minutes. If the builders would have spent a little more money to enlarge the patio to enjoy the view it really would have made a difference. Breakfast in the Rotunda was ok, nothing special. I don't think there should be a "tip" line on the receipt when it is a full service buffet, drinks too. The staff did nothing except bring us a check. Golf was good at the Cobb course.

A great concept, but not much to do in area, unless you're a golfer. The conference facility is rather nice, but small meeting rooms. The sleeping accommodations are in quads (like townhouses) and is laid out like an executive suite. However, walls are thin, and we hear all noise from adjacent rooms. Pillows are very thin and not comfortable.........

A great concept, just not the best facility for the money.

Lodging:
I was placed in Manor 1. Evidently, there was no heating as at 76 in heat mode it was still cold in the room. All maid service did was "toss" the bed spread back on the bed and pick up towels. Coffee cup and glasses were still dirty. Coffee pot was still dirty. One pillow case had blood stains on it - and not mine - as they had been washed in.
Dining:
As had been in the past three years - service was as poor as the food was good. Doesn't appear to have enough trained help. The one bright spot was a lady in Bunker's named Tiffany. She was very good and enjoyable.

I stay at Glade Soings routinely and have always enjoyed my stay. I was in town for business and the stay have me a chance to relax by taking in the beautiful scenery surrounding the resort grounds. The staff was extremely courteous even though I booked last minute. I took full advantage of the gym and steam room at the recreation center.

I had dinner at Glades Grill where Chef Sam prepared an incredible 40oz "Cowboy" ribey steak to perfection. The dinner was incredible and the service excellent. I have seen some remarks that the food is pricey. The food is priced accordingly, your not eating at a fast food place, its a private membership club and high end dinning place, therefore you have to expect a price that is reasonable to similar Restaraunts. Anything we asked for we were given at dinner, in my opinion and from seeing other fine dinning places that is what separates the high end places from your chain type Restaraunts. I would say the price is fine.

Bunkers sports bar is lively, it's a sports bar and its decor reflects local sports figures who have played for sports team in West Virginia. The menus isn't he and the dress code is comfortable.

Overall the stay was great, I do agree with posters above that the hotel should have a little more high end services such as room service full menu and possibly a bell hop to help with luggage. Overall a great stay, a great dinner experience.

We picked this resort because it was a nicer property close to the Boy Scout Jamboree. The setting is amazing, hidden among rolling wooded hills, truly beautiful. We stayed at a “Manor House” room (not in the main building). The room was large, clean and looked brand new. We had the typical internal door opening into another room, but to our surprise it was not the usual double door, meaning we could walk into the other room as we pleased. The other room looked like some sort of common area with a kitchen and living room, but no one at the front desk said if it was a common room or part of someone’s room. And, with only the one door separating us from this area there was no soundproofing. The morning of our last day, at 8am, we were woken up by a worker using a circular saw, or sander, in the common room; not a very nice way to wake up. There are plenty of activities, we did some horse back riding and used the pool, both of which were very pleasant. The breakfast, included in the rate, was nothing different than a mid range hotel buffet. Dinner at the Glades Grill was good, but expensive for what we got. The bar food was bar food, but the atmosphere was awful, with too many TVs, and lighting that could have worked in a business office, i.e., not very relaxing. On the positive side, the bar tender poured the biggest glasses I’ve ever seen, almost a half bottle of wine per glass, and the people working at the restaurant, bar, front desk, and equestrian center were the friendliest people you could ever meet.

We have been here before and had a good time, but stayed in the main hotel. Don't stay in the executive suites. It sounds good online, but it is NOT. We left one day early because we were run out by ants. They were even in the bed, bathroom, all over.

The "living room" is a joke. It is tiny and the couch feels like plastic material, hard to sit on. So we opened up the sofa bed thinking it would be better to sit on. It was worse. It was like sleeping on metal coils. I would have slept on the floor if there weren't so many ants.

This suite is really only big enough for two people, at the most three. There is just not enough seating.

We left at 2:00 pm and were charged for another overnight stay at $240.00+ per night. As I have seen in other reviews, the manager is to call me about reducing my bill since we were only there for 3 hours past check-out. If she does, I will post it on here. I doubt I hear from anyone.

To be fair, the small talk cafe had wonderful food. We loved the pool and hot tub. The rest of my time was spent spraying ants with hairspray! We only had an empty cooler that we brought drinks in, so not sure why they were everywhere.

Recently stayed here three nights while on a business trip.
Pros: Food at the on site sports bar was fantastic, not cheap but well worth it. Golf course looked nice and well kept. Cons: Front desk staff seemed confused most of the time and slow. No hot water in the room for a morning shower and bathtub drain didn't work. Room was worn, ordinary, and smelled moldy. Breakfast buffet was fair at best and they charged top dollar.
Glade Springs is charging Four Seasons and Ritz Carlton prices and providing Days Inn accommodations. Just not worth it.
