“Beautiful hotel with great breakfast in a great location!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 8, 2011

My family and I travel to Charleston every year, the first weekend in August, for Multifest at the capitol complex. This was our first time staying at this Hampton Inn. We absolutely loved this hotel! The room was very clean and the decor was fresh and modern. The breakfast was delicious and offered a wide variety of hot and cold items. My son especially enjoyed making his own waffle with the rotating wafflemaker. We all enjoyed the 24 hour fountain pop machine, coffee, and a variety of tea bags. A snack is offered each evening and we enjoyed making our own PB&J sandwiches during our stay. The pool with adjoining hot tub was very beautiful along with the cabana style seating. There are many restaurants, stores, a family fun center with go carts, and an iceskating rink nearby. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We would definately come back.

Room Tip: Request a room in the front of the hotel for the best view.

Thanks for the great review! We’re glad you enjoyed your stay for while you were here for Multifest. We love the wafflemakers in our breakfast area and it seems to be a big hit among our guests and their families as well. We do have a great variety of attractions like the Ice Rink, stores and many dining options, including a bunch of new restaurants that have just opened. We’re glad we could be of such service to you and your family while you were here with us. Thanks again and we hope to see you next year as well!

We used the hotel as a rest stop on a drive from NY to Nashville and it gave us a chance to see Charleston which is a lovely small city on the banks of the Kanewha River. This property is about five miles south of the city in an area of strip malls - not too lovely to look at but it gives you a wide range of dining options.
Our room was clean and very comfortable with two queen beds. We had the free coffee but went to First Watch in downtown Charleston so I cannot comment on breakfast.
It met our needs, was reasonably priced and convenient.

We’re so glad you enjoyed your stay in Charleston and that we could be a part of it. We’re glad you got the chance to go to First Watch, it is a great restaurant in downtown. We would love to see you the next time you come through and show you more of the local dining options available as well as give you other attractions to visit on your trip. Thanks for staying with us!

This is an average Hampton, nothing special. The usual throng of families and kids fighting for breakfast on the weekends, normal business travelers and retirees on weekdays. The staff is very friendly and location, while not downtown is great, walking or short driving distance to several eating & drinking establishments.

Rooms are generally clean, however mine & my co-worker's reeked of cigarette smoke even though they were non-smoking rooms. Front desk & housekeeping desk apologized, but since hotel was full couldn't move us to another room. Short of dousing the room with Febreze there was not much they could do.

Breakfast was a little better than most Hamptons, and they had a soda fountain and fresh fruit available 24/7. Baked cookies in the afternoon too.

Rooms had fridge, microwave & flat screen TV. Heater/AC was old under window unit with no thermostat.

We’re sorry that we couldn’t move you into a more compatible room, and are terribly sorry about the smoke smell in your room. We work hard to give each of our guests their best stay and we’re hoping you will give us another chance to prove that in the future. We appreciate that you understood it was a busy weekend and are pleased that the staff helped you as much as they could. We hope to be given the opportunity to make it up to you in the future.

Stayed here one night on a road trip - two rooms. Although the hotel was busy with a wedding party, everything was of a high standard. Check in was a breeze and very courteous. The rooms were great - large, clean and modern. King size beds and brilliant pillows (i usually hate most hotel pillows), 2/3 seat sofa and armchair, flat screen TV and plenty of channels, good work desk and reasonably fast WiFi, good bathroom with double size shower (not bath).
All the staff were very helpful to the highest degree, good free breakfast and free soda fountain drinks 24/7. Two flat screen computer screens available near the breakfast area.
All in all a very good overnight stay.

We stayed here on our way home from Virginia Beach a couple of days ago. It was clean and nice. The breakfast was good and we loved how the indoor pool and breakfast area opened up into each other. The room had a fridge and microwave which is always a good thing. The only thing I would change is the price. I don't like spending $125 for one night anywhere just for sleeping. It seemed like a bit much for the area. It cost us as much as the Hampton Inns did in the tourist areas like Virginia Beach and Williamsburg, VA. Since Charleston isn't exactly a high tourist area, the room really should have been under $100.

This is the second year our Little League Baseball team stayed at this hotel. We were guests for 6 nights and the staff was super to all of our players and their families. They went above and beyond in helping make our week away from home comfortable.

Room Tip: Hotel is located off the highway so any room should be fine.

This was our 4th stay at this hotel. Coming from Central Virginia, I use Charleston as a mid-point stop on road trips to visit family in Indiana. This hotel, although a bit off of the interstate, is our new favorite. It's located at the back of a shopping area on a road which is full of stores, restaurants, etc. So, you have a wide range of places to eat and shop all within walking distance or a short drive. Within walking distance: Panera, Quaker Steak and Lube, Chuck-E-Cheese, Bob Evans, Wendy's, McDonald's, and more. Possible negative if you're traveling with kids: Toys R Us is right in front of the hotel, too! Parking is plentiful, too.

The hotel is nicely decorated, clean and the staff members are friendly. They have freshly baked cookies by the front desk. On Wednesdays, they have a Manager's reception where they serve drinks and small snacks (that day they had salad). I actually was not told this by staff, but by a fellow guest. The breakfast area is continuously restocked by very friendly staff members who even remembered me from last time.

On the way to Indiana, we had just arrived in the middle of a huge storm. I found the hotel to be extremely busy. The front desk clerk told me several other hotels were sending people there because of widespread power outages. He even told me that one year, the only place in town to have power during/after a storm were Wal-Mart (at the other end of the shopping complex the hotel is located in) and this hotel. So, good to know when traveling in bad weather! Although we checked in rather late because of the storm and traffic (around 9 pm) I was relieved to find my room had not been given away! :)

On the return part of this particular trip, our refrigerator was not working when we got to the room and maintenance came up and had it replaced within 15 minutes. Another great stay and look forward to coming again during the holidays as usual!

Room Tip: For those who need accessible rooms, I highly recommend requesting a king study suite on the first f...
