“One of Our Favorite Places EVER”

We also found this place during a random search of the internet for B&Bs - looking for a place to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary and we are SO glad we did! The rooms are beautiful and VERY comfortable, with private bathrooms. Marie and Donn were so welcoming - we felt like family the first hour we were there. Delicious coffee and baked treats are waiting when you return from a day of sightseeing and the breakfast was wonderful. We enjoyed walking the neighborhood, too - so many lovely historic homes. We will definitely return to the Carriage Inn someday!!

The Carriage Inn was the perfect getaway that my fiance and I needed! From the moment we arrived Donn and Marie were more than accomodating, they truly opened their home to us. We stayed in the Copper Beech Suite, which was absolutely superb. We haven't slept that well in ages! The room was large and charming, with a large jacuzzi tub and private screened in porch. The breakfasts were exquisite! We would recommend this inn to anyone traveling to the Charles Town/Harper's Ferry area. The home is charming from head to toe, as are the innkeepers Donn and Marie.

My husband and I decided we wanted to get away and have some time alone. We've stayed and B&B's before and really enjoy the "at home" feel of them. We didn't want to stay in a hotel and just be a number.

We came across this Inn on the web after deciding to go away to West Virginia. They only had one room left for the weekend-the Robins Nest Suite. I read the reviews and mostly all of them were great except for the one review on this room and how terrible it was. I was a little reluctant, but the photo of the room looked fine. Besides, it's not some luxury resort, it's a B&B! Well let me tell you, the room is fabulous! It's the third floor and offers all the privacy in the world and my husband and I just loved it. It was cozy and warm and just plain charming. We felt so relaxed.

The Inn Keepers, Donn & Marie, are so wonderful you can't help but fall in love with them. And if Donn's cooking doesn't make you come back for more, I don't know what will! I would drive two hours for his breakfast any day of the week!

A home with a heart, Inn Keepers that love, and hospitality no one can match! Now, top that Comfort Inn!

Well worth every penny and it was difficult to drive away!!! It was like leaving home! Cannot wait to be back!

Absolutely top notch...fabulous hosts, wonderful breakfast...add in a bit of history and you are set. We had booked the Hill Top Inn in Harper's Ferry, arrived late at night and it was horrid! Dirty, smelly...creepy. We stopped by the Carriage Inn as we pasted through town looking for some place to eat, stopped and they gave us there last room. It was our Anniversary and we were SO relieved not to have to stay at the Hilltop...the bonus is this place is such a find! We were only able to stay 2 of the 4 night trip we had planned (they were booked over the weekend), but the owners/host were so accomodating...nothing but great things to say about this place! We recommend to all of our friends.

I can't say enough about the positive weekend just spent at the Carriage Inn. We felt at home from the minute we stepped on the front porch and more so thoughout our stay. All the rooms were well-appointed and charming, and our Shenandoah Suite was lovely. Innkeepers Marie and Donn went out of their way to assure we were pampered and our every need was met. Breakfast each day was unique and delicious-caramel apple French toast on Saturday and a quiche on Sunday, formally served in the elegant dining room. Brownies and cookies greeted us in the evening upon our return from the day. What a welcome attitude adjustment from the city!

Perfect in every respect. My husband and I visited for one night for my birthday, and I am so glad we did. We were greeted at the door by Marie, who owns and runs the house with Donn. The rooms are large and comfortable - we stayed in the Sunrise room, with a comfortable blue decor and a bathroom a few steps downward from the room itself. Coffee, tea and snacks were available from 7:30 am to 9 pm. The Inn is within easy walking distance of the Charles Town Races and Slots, although you have to walk on the side of the road since there aren't really any sidewalks to speak of. Breakfast (which I understand changes daily) was fresh watermelon, blueberries, muffin, and a hearty slice of quiche, plus at least 6 different chioces of juice. Although the house has a great deal of history and dates from the 1840s, the soundproofing was excellent and we slept wonderfully. We were so pleased at our choice, and we will definitely return to this B&B again!

This is our 4th time staying at this bed and breakfast and each time is better than the last. You can`t ask for better Inn owners than Donn and Marie. If you don`t like rich tasting breakfasts that are anything but ordinary than this isn`t the place for you. We`ve stayed in 3 different rooms but I know that my wife will agree that the Copper Beech room is the best by far (love the jacuzzi!!!). The rooms are mostly decorated in period furniture and yet it`s still nice to have the AC and TV. It`s a quiet atmosphere but you`re only minutes from the Horse Track and Casino. Civil War history is everywhere, from Harper`s Ferry to Antietam Battle Field. It`s just a great place to stay all the way around.
