“Excellent restaurant in the Casino”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 23, 2012

My husband and I decided to drive over to Charlestown WV to the casino. We had not been there for a number of years, since they added the table games. I looked online to see what restaurants were available, since we did not want a buffet or food court experience. I made a reservation for The Final Cut via Open Table. This gave me a chance to review the menu offerings and prices before we went, so we knew it was a high end restaurant.

The restaurant is right in the middle of the casino, but it is surprisingly quiet inside and you feel removed from the activity on the casino floor. Tables or booths are widely spaced, which adds to a sense of privacy. You must have a reservation; they were turning folks away who just walked in and we waited about ten minutes to be seated for our reservation.

The server was very attentive. As others have said, the drink menu is on an ipad at each table. We ordered a bottle of California merlot -- B. R. Cohn, which at $47, was one of the more reasonable choices. They bring you a basket of the brioche French bread, which is very rich and has kosher salt on the crust. The service was leisurely and we waited a while for our appetizers but we never felt ignored. My husband had the French onion soup, which was excellent; I ordered the spinach salad, which was a nice size portion and was very tasty. For our entrees, I ordered the petite 8 oz filet medium and my husband ordered the strip steak. He was a bit taken aback at first at the prices but the food was excellent. The steaks are clearly prime beef. My "petite" filet was a nice, thick cut portion. We have eaten at Morton's, Ruth's Chris, Capital Grille, and other pricey steak houses and these steaks were among the best we have been served. The side dishes are a la carte; we split the grilled asparagus, which was a generous serving for two and which was delicious.

We did not order dessert -- the steaks were a very generous portion and we were stuffed. The bill, including wine, was $162 for two before the tip. The reviews I have read by others tend to agree that the food is excellent. You have to be prepared that it is a high end steakhouse, like you would find in in a major city, and not a Ponderosa, a Longhorn or chain restaurant like you might expect in the suburbs or out in WV. The prices reflect the quality. However, we have not had such excellent steaks anywhere. It transformed the evening from an outing at a noisy, smoky casino to a very relaxing, fine dining experience. We highly recommend The Final Cut.

“Wonderful meal.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 21, 2012 via mobile

We decided to try the Final Cut since the previous reviews were good on Trip Advisor and Urbanspon. We were not disappointed. Although it was higher end dinning the money we spent was absolutely worth it The Spinach salad was wonderful, the salmon was cooked beautifully and the side order of asparagus was large enough for three. Caution the sides are extremely plentiful so you may want to share. The restaurant has a good wine list brought to your table via an iPad (how clever) with not only a list but a complete explanation of the wine (country, grapes and reviews)

An excellent restaurant. Worth every penny. Enjoy!!

“Slow and uninspiring”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed August 9, 2012

Have eaten here 4 times before and had been happy with the steaks, and service. Last night 8-8-12 arrived at 7:20 and saw first course at 8:15. Waiter could not have cared less, and made fair to good entree not so good at 8:35. Unfortunately this establishment is trying to be something it clearly is not. Trying to be upscale, when it is just a good steakhouse. The service made it much lower than that. If you get a good waiter is probably worth a try.

“Casino Restaurant”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 6, 2012

My husband wanted to race his care again at Summit Point Raceway and I was excited because that meant we would be going back to one of my favorite B&Bs near Charles Town, WV. We wanted to try something different for dinner Saturday night, so we decided to have dinner at the Hollywood Casino. They have several restaurants and we decided to try The Final Cut. We were a bit intimidated when we walked into the Casino. It was huge, very noisy, crowded and reeked of smoke (which is allowed in the Casino). We thought that we had made a big mistake but we pushed through and found the restaurant. Surprisingly, the smoke never made it in the restaurant and it was much quieter and cozy sitting in the booth. They have iPads on the tables for you to pick your drinks – which I thought was cute. Watch out for the bread – it was tremendous and addictive – you’ll eat too much and not enjoy what’s to come. The steaks we ordered were FAB and dessert was amazing. So don’t let the crowd, noise and smoke deter you – it is definitely worth the trip!

“Over priced but good”

The menu was different and the service was great. The displays atat.around the resturant were interesting and unique. The cost of the meal was out of line with the area. If it was located in downtown Washington I would expect prices like th
