Alberto and his staff seem to have the secret. They are attentive to their customers and the food is quite good. Very eclectic with the wall decorations. Only advice to Alberto: get rid of the flat panel screen with videos and streaming ads.

“We dined here 2 nights in a row while visiting Charles Town!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 21, 2014

Mediterranean Café is a fun, friendly, popular and informal Restaurant that I highly recommend to locals and visitors alike. It has quality fresh food at reasonable prices, and the owner is a wonderful host who likes to please his guests and is concerned if you are fine with your selections so he is often seen coming out and talking to his customers. The have a beer and wine license with reasonably priced selections, and the menu is quite extensive, offering seafood, meat and vegetarian entrees and appetizers. It only has 8 tables and booths of various sizes, along with a couch like area along the back wall, which seems to be busy with friends and visitors waiting for tables. On Saturday night they had a singer/guitarist playing quietly. Its fun to look around and see the different decorations and bright colors. I wish Alfredo great success in his business.

“True Mediterranean, not just Italy!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 28, 2014 via mobile

Great selection of Greek, middle Eastern, Italian, French, Spanish menu choices. Service is often by the owner and host Alfredo. Alfredo gladly presents his creations and will work to please any dietary restrictions. All guests are greeted with a nice complementary appetizer salad.I have visited often, recommend to friends and visitors. I have tried many of the dishes all scoring very well!

“A great place for a meal”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 15, 2014

Alberto's Mediterranean Café has become a very popular dining spot in Charles Town. The restaurant is friendly and the service by Alberto and his helpers is informal but efficient. The dining room is small, some five tables plus six booths, and an al fresco seating area... a jumble of space, colors, and artifacts which makes for a lively atmosphere! Food is a blend of French, Italian, Moroccan, Greek and Middle Eastern dishes with an emphasis on kabobs, pastas, and salads. Plenty of choice for vegetarians and for omnivores too. Meals always begin with a complimentary plate of humus, feta and tomato salad served with pita bread. Lamb dishes are excellent, and the kitchen is always willing to mix and match side dishes to the wishes of the customer. Dessert menu is short but choices are delicious. The wine list is also short (the restaurant has only had a wine and beer license for a couple of months) and quite basic. Seating for groups of four or less can mean a short wait; for groups larger than four make a reservation!

“Very Good, but Different”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 13, 2014

I have to say that the complimentary appetizer was tasty. The hummus and feta served with tomatoes and flatbread was pleasantly delectable according to my wife which I liked too.

The service was good, although it was a turnoff to see the cook and the owner wearing their aprons serving our food. The owner recommended a family style platter showcasing various grilled meat, a quartered tomato, shrimp, a side of pasta with chicken, and a Greek salad. Overall the food was good, but the amount was not as large as sharing four separate dinners. I would recommend ordering à la carte.

The ambience was definitely Mid-eastern influenced and Spanish music was piped in. My only complaint was that we were not offered a dessert or any after dinner beverage; this was probably due to the restaurant closing.

I would definitely return, although I would come back either earlier in the evening.
