“Nice rooms and great staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 14, 2013

We enjoyed our stay at the Inn at Charles Town. The rooms were very nice and the staff people were very helpful. Easy access to the casino and the horse races ,which were fun. We visited Harper's Ferry while there and then went on to see Gettysburg to complete our trip learning about the civil war.

We had a comp for a free room. It faced the race track. The room was huge and the balcony allowed us to hear the jockey's talking to their horses in the back field as they raced that night. The only downfall was that the casino was located at the racetrack which requires us to catch the shuttle to gamble. But overall we had a great time and won some money.

On a recent midweek guys getaway trip we found the Inn at Charles Town both boring and expensive. Casino promotioms were limited to a free T-shirt. There was no pool or spa (indoor or outdoor), no races and virtually nothing to do but play in a boring and very tight casino. Video poker paybacks are among the lowest in the nation. Having said all that the Inn is not a bad place. The breakfast buffet is decent. The place was very clean. The staff is friendly but seem bored too. A nearby Hampton Inn is actaully as close to the Casino, with better amenities, at lower prices.

I was pleasantly surprised. Initially, I was concerned that there weren't going to be any decent hotel rooms in Charles Town. The Inn at Charles Town really pulled through. I booked 3 rooms for a bachelor party (two junior suites and one executive suite). The rooms are true to the pictures on the website and the bathroom in the executive suite was large (one of the handles was broken for the double sinks).

The balcony on the executive suite was great for watching some of the races during our off times from food, casino and other activities. (My only wish was to be able to place bets on the horses from the rooms).

Do not expect your over the top lavish AC or Vegas suites here. Overall, an above average hotel with exceptional staff and great proximity to the casino.

Room Tip: Request rooms viewing the track. Otherwise you are looking at the parking lot.

The hotel is beautiful. The staff are efficient, pleasant and friendly. The rooms are very very comfortable, and most overlook the racetrack which is beautiful at night. Free 24/7 every 15mins shuttle to the Casino which on the weekend is awesome!! We had comps which included free hotel stay for 2 nights, breakfast each day and free slot play! Not much of a variety for breakfast, however, it was hot, fresh and FREE, lol. Lots of historical sightseeing close by as well.

Room Tip: Breakfast begins at 6am - 10am. Get there early because it fills up fast.

We stayed one night free with our comps. They upgraded us to a beautiful suite! The room was very clean with nice amenities, including the single cup coffee maker, bath salts and whirlpool tub. Nice view of the horse track from the balcony. We spent the morning drinking coffee and watching the horses. Breakfast was great with scrambled egg and cheese, plain scrambled eggs, boild eggs, cereal, pastries fruit, juice and yogurt. Friendly folks.
As for the casino, we came out a little ahead but the place was dirty. No one was cleaning off the machines.
