“Steeped in history”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 12, 2013

The cemetery is worth a trip to discover the many family members of our founding father, and to puzzle out why so many descendants are also named George!

“Walking through history”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 18, 2013

It was a lovely stroll though the cemetery. We went both at day and night. The walkways are treacherous at night, but with caution and a light it was doable. A lovely quiet neighborhood to walk through with fabulous old architecture to enjoy.

“Great Cemetery”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 9, 2013

A lot of George Washington's relatives are buried here. This includes several named after him!. Very old cemetery with ornate headstones. We were unable to tour the Episcopal Church but the stained glass windows are awe inspiring.

“Fascinating history”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 4, 2013

If you like cemeteries and history this is the place for you. A large portion of the cemetery is dedicated to the Washington family. Charles Washington - George's brother - who the town is named after and his descendants are buried there as are a lot of other distinguished Americans. Walking through the cemetery is a walk through history.
It is easy to find the cemetery - just a block off the main street.

“Historic”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 17, 2012

LOTS of history is buried in this cemetary. Walkways are very uneven brick from tree roots and old facility.
