My husband and I stayed here for an appointment that I had in Princeton the next day. I am a nurse and had just came off of a 16 hour shift, plus the 2 hour drive it took us to get there. We arrived in Bluefield a little after 1:20 pm and check in was at 3.... needless to say I was exhausted, my husband explained this to the man at the front desk and asked if we could check in so I could get some much needed rest. But before he could give us an answer, the phone rang and he excused himself to make a reservation for the caller, not that there was anything wrong with that, but by the time he got back to us it was almost 1:45. He said that the room was ready and we could check in early.... for an additional $20 fee. This was on top of the $76.40 that we had already paid, bringing our total for the room to just under $100. The room was clean but not worth the price. The bed was uncomfortable and the pillows were those thin cheap $5 pillows from Wal-Mart, but I was so tired I could have fallen asleep on a rock. When we booked the room one of the amenities that was advertised was that they had a "FREE BREAKFAST". At most hotels this usually means items like cold cereal, doughnuts, fruit, coffee, milk and juice. -NOT HERE- when my husband went down to get us something there was nothing there with the exception of 2 small cake doughnuts and a bowl of tiny butter pats. My husband asked the man at the desk about the breakfast, which was the same man he had dealt with the day before. What he did next was almost comical...if it was happening to someone else... he reached behind the desk and took out a loaf of dry bread and put 4 slices on a little plastic plate and handed it to my husband. YES... THIS REALLY HAPPENED... This was listed as a 2 star hotel and it just simply isn't , there is no elevator for guests on the second floor, the hotel is situated on a hill that causes your car to scrape the pavement coming in and going out, the water pressure for the shower is abysmal and the rooms are clean but very outdated and not worth the price we paid. this is the type of hotel that I would expect to pay $39 a night at most. If you have the choice there are much better places to stay for around the same price just up the road in Princeton. I really hope this helps someone not make the same mistake we made.
