“Anniversary Break”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 25, 2012

We stayed in Capernwray House for 3 nights to celebrate our anniversay in the middle of August 2012. We could not fault anything at all. The accommodation, furnishings, food, service were all second to none. Roy and Mel certainly know all about going the extra mile from tea, coffee and biccies on arrival to booking a table for our anniversary dinner and offering to drive us so we could both enjoy a drink and the anniversary card and chocolates. What a lovely touch. It is these little touches that turn something nice into something really special. They were certainly appreciated by us. We would have no hesitation in making return visits if in the area again and, again, we would have no hesitation in recommending Capernwray House to anyone who finds themselves in this neck of the woods. Roy and Mel are a very friendly couple who make you feel at home from the moment you step through their front door but they also respect your space if this is what you want. Their 5 star rating is very well deserved.

Room Tip: We were in Sandpiper. This room had a walk-in shower which was important to us due to my husband'...

An oasis of calm to break the journey on the M6 from Scotland to Wiltshire, and the sat nav took us right to the front gate - brilliant as the light was beginning to fade when we arrived. We were made very welcome, and the wide choice at breakfast was much appreciated.

We stayed in Capernwray house as we were in the area to go on a helicopter trip; we booked this b&b through Laterooms. It is a extremely well presented bed and breakfast 5stars, spacious room with all modern facilities and beautifully decorated. Excellent location in very scenic surroundings. Service from Mel was 1st class; we will definitely being staying again

From the moment we arrived, we were made to feel welcome, with tea/coffee in the lounge. The rooms were outstanding and certainly worth 5 stars. Breakfast was amazing, with plenty to choose from. So nice to meet Charley and Harry, who also made us both feel part of the family. Would not hesitate in recommending this to anyone.

Extremely comfortable, providing a good base for exploring. The views were marvellous. The choice offered at breakfast was more than some hotels offer and catered for all appetites. Being able to have fresh milk for my tea in my room shows how much attention to detail is taken

The wonderful warm and friendly welcome heralded the start of a wonderful 4 nights and Capernwray House. A spotlessly clean and luxurious room with a HUGE bed, beautifully and thoughtfully furnished. Delicious home cooked breakfasts which set us up for the day with at the Sheepdog Trials.

Thank you Roy and Mel for sharing your beautiful house.

We could not have chosen a better location for the travelling we wished to do over a couple of days. We were made to feel very welcome and the standard of all aspects of our stay was first rate. The scenery from our bedroom was excellent overlooking fields and hills and we could enjoy the rabbits running around in the mornings - lovely countryside. The breakfast was excellent - nothing was too much trouble. Very knowledgeable on the local amenities which saved us a lot of time in not having to look for suitable eating houses. Also a good knowledge of traditional ale pubs in the area - which was a must for us. A guest house not to be missed.

Room Tip: We stayed in 'Teal' Room - which was excellent.
