The rooms are outdated. The customer service was rude, basically you were a pain to them. The spa services were bad. Room rates have increased not worth the price. Spa service people were rude. Talking about other clients while attending to you. To go to your different services you would have to walk outside in the cold with only a robe on to the next building either up the steps or down the steps. I would not waste your money with this place. Alot of other nicer places then this. I coud of went on a Cruise for the same money we paid for our room, spa services, and dining. DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY..... I was going to go on a cruise this weekend for 3 nights 4 days in Jan. for 289.00 a person, I would of rather did that then the trip that we had to this resort. I feel that with the low on money should not waste it on this place.

myself and 4 of my friends were ready for a great girls weekendand were somewhat disapointed. the rooms the resaurant and front desk were just ok. the spa experience was very interesting! the staff and the services were excellent, but the conditions they had to work in were a little rediculous! the directions to the spa are a little confusing, and once you find where you are supposed to check in, the receptionist is very rude and apparently is unsure of her job on how to book spa appointments. things were switched around from the schedule that was discussed on the phone when when appointments were made and she was quick to blame the other receptionist that was conveinently off that day for the mistakes with the schedule. the spa staff was more than willing to work with the changing schedule. when we walked thru the door of the spa the carpet was almost black with filth (not the staffs fault) the rooms that we had our services in were well kept. there were no hangers on the fifth floor to hang our coats. the spa ladies were rather embarassed to have to tell us that there were no hangers to be provided, again (not the staffs fault). ther was a coffeepot but no coffee provided to be made. ther was hot water for tea but only one teabag that my friend and i had to share, again (not the staffs fault). the spa staff and services were great considering the circumstances they had to work with! poor staff!!!

  • Liked — the spa staff was very polite and professional
  • Disliked — not having the ammendaties to properly accomadate spa guests

This place has so much potential, but alas, it's just that -- potential. While the room was OK, the "upgrade" to the "newly renovated" queen suite (room #30), wasn't worth it. The room was large, I'll give them that, but the one tiny window overlooked the maintenance area for the hotel. Not exactly scenic. Bathroom towels were thin and raggedy and the shower head had some issues.

As for the spa: It appeared that all areas were under construction. We walked across plywood to get to a massage room (this was after walking down two flights of outdoor stairs). The massage itself was OK, but nothing I'd return for or recommend. I'm not even sure they were real massage therapists. The towels here were in need of attention, too. When Mr. Wonderful went to towel off after a shower, his towel ripped in half!

Also, the Web site promised a "fitness room." There was none. "It's under renovation," we were told.

The food: Dining room was quaint, but felt unfinished. Paper napkins, paper placemats. Staff was great, very helpful and cheerful and eager to please. They provided samples of the local wine. Dinner was good (a little overpriced for the region), but breakfast was a bust. Home fries that looked like BBQ potato chips were floating in oil on the plate. The biscuit appeared to have been double-cooked. The good news is they took the charge off our bill without our having to ask.

Would we return? To Berkeley Springs, yes. But we'd stay at a B&B and go to The Bath House for spa treatments.

I stayed here with my wife and two kids one night over the Thanksgiving holiday. We stayed in the "west building" behind the main building. The room was fairly large and clean. It was very, very quiet. Perhaps we were the only ones on the entire 3rd (top) floor? The room needs some updating - peeling wallpaper, old vanity and plumbing fixtures, and beds as hard as rocks. Ouch. The pillows were also worn. Security features are lacking: a metal key is used to enter the room, a pushbutton on the doorknob secures it from the inside (no deadbolt), and there's no bar or chain to attach. The "special internet rate" of $104 included no food, and was no bargain.

I was hoping to use the workout room but it was under renovation. The spa appeared to be closed.

Our breakfast was unexceptional. After a prolonged wait, our food arrived. Three of the six orders were incorrect (they were missing various side dishes). My kids' bagels came out last for some reason, behind the hot food orders. Instead of hot cocoa in a cup, my wife received a generic Sysco paper packet of mix and a barely warm (nowhere near hot) pot of water to mix for herself. (She traded this for coffee.) On top of it all, we were assessed a 19% gratuity since we had 6 in the party. Yikes! I'll be sure to avoid this place next time.

If I come back to Berkeley Springs, I'll certainly try somewhere else.

After reading several below average reviews, our expectations were low. The Inn exceeded them by providing a quaint trip to years gone by. Room was small but clean; its corner location gave us two windows. Although the window A/C struggled against the near 90 degree weather, it provided sufficient cooling.

Friday afternoon's wine and cheese reception with fiddle player was unexpected and enjoyable. A cold draught later that evening in the small but cozy tavern was nice. A nearby restaurant , Tari's, provided an excellent meal and the small park adjacent to The Inn provided a good spot to sit and enjoy.
