“Comfortable stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 4, 2007

We met relatives here to go whitewater rafting and found the large rooms helpful. The pull-out couch was pretty beat up, however. The pool is very nice, and the breakfast good.

We stayed here on an unplanned basis (late start due to car repairs) and because we trust the brand. It's a great hotel, facilities, pool and rooms are all very clean. Yes they do accept pets but be aware that this will automatically get you a SMOKING ROOM not to mention dirty looks by staff as if you are trying to sneak something by them.

My daughter has mild asthma and was extremely congested/ wheezy and I had a bloody nose by morning.

It's a nice hotel with restaurant within walking distance which is very convenient. The pool is large and well kept and provided added fun for my daughter. Breakfast was adequate if rather tight seating so my overall opinion is GOOD. I would have appreciated a Non-smoking option for us.

  • Liked — Convenient Location off the Turnpike
  • Disliked — Smoking only rooms for pet owners

This place is amazing! It had a pool that was the best we have seen. It was indoor/outdoor and you swam under a wall to get to each. Our kids loved it!!! The rooms were spacious, the beds were great and the staff was very helpful. They have a great continental breakfast. I would highly recommend this place.

We stayed at the Beckley CI&S while attending a B&B owners' conference at the Tamarack Arts and Conference Center just behind the hotel. From the time we arrived (early, by the way) through the time we departed, we found the service, accommodations and breakfasts at CI&S to be absolutely top-notch! The suite itself was great! Having 2 TVs allowed me to watch the race and my husband to watch the Oscars. Having 2 beds ensured a great night's sleep for each of us. Top that off with the consistently helpful and caring staff and the hotel being a stone's-throw from the Tamarack Center, and you have the best combination possible, whether you are just passing through, visiting for a conference or chasing history. No matter what, make plans to stay at the Beckley Country Inn and Suites for great accommodations and to visit the Tamarack Arts and Conference Center. Don't miss the chance for a restful stay or the chance to see fantastic artworks and artists at work at Tamarack! Go Wild and Wonderful WVA!

This is a nice hotel, but be aware that groups use this hotel. When we arrived, the pool/hot tub were dominated by teenagers, probably a ski group. We opted to use the pool in the morning. The pool area is very nice, but the water could be a little warmer. It connects to the outdoor pool and that may pose a challenge for the water temp during the winter.

The desk staff and cleaning people were very friendly. I think our key card only worked once out of many attempts; those things can be a pain.

The breakfast is above average and does include hot items which were kept full by the staff. The groups were eating in a separate area so that is good for everyone involved.

We spent 3 nights at the Country Inn Suites in Beckley, WV. We went there to ski at nearby Winterplace. We have stayed here before but we enjoyed it so much again that I decided to write about it.

Check In: easy, no hassles, friendly staff

Room: some people say the decor is outdate, but I think it more reflects the country feel the hotel is striving for. Everything was clean and free from any glaring defects. Bathroom is very large, perfect for someone to use the counter/sink while another is in the shower. TV has a good selection of channels and movies can be purchased.

Food: they serve breakfast every morning downstairs. The first time we stayed, it was just a standard continental breakfast. But they have since added sausage, eggs, and waffles to the selction, which were all great and started off the day perfect!

Amenities: They have a large indoor pool that actually connects to the outside pool via a small, swim under barrier. Water was a little cold, but that could be due to the wintry weather outside. There is also a hot tub inside and also one outside. If you forget any toiletry products, the front desk will be more than happy to accomodate.

Overall, this hotel is great. However, the only thing I would watch out for is that there are a lot of groups that use this hotel. The first time we stayed, there were kids running around the floors making quite a bit of noise. This time around, there were several busses of groups, but less noise, and there are signs indicating the hotel has attempted to address the situation, so I would not let this one negative prevent you from going.

Stayed here for 2 nights while we were in town visiting family. We got one of the rooms with a jacuzzi tub for a very reasonable rate (esp with AAA discount). The bed wasn't the most comfortable, but they accomodated our request for additional pillows. Didn't bring bathing suits so we didn't go in, but saw people using the indoor pool, which was pretty large and seemed clean enough. Looked like there was also a hot tub. The jacuzzi tub in the room was great - separate from bathroom. Bathroom had double showerheads. Free breakfast was from 6-9:30, which was too early for us.
