“Would stay again for sure!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 8, 2010 via mobile

For a budget class motel that accepts pets, this place was pretty impressive. Room was clean and had been updated. Staff was friendly and helpful. Definitely worth every penny we paid! Choice Hotels should be proud to be affiliated with this hotel and the owners.

Booked this because of TV reviews as of Dec 21st and how they stepped up to the plate and took care of the folks when none of the other resorts would do so. I booked because of that. Read into what I just said Would I book again ? No unless it was in the future -----or I was a dog owner. ---They are renovating now--- . Rooms are very dated BUT clean. around $70.00 /night,,, so go to the newly renovated Comfort Inn on the hwy. This room the floor jiggles somebody downstairs is going to be upset (we are on 3rd floor) if you make any noise.
Very pleasant people at front desk but nope will never book here again until we find there are major reno's completed...

A winter stome turned a trip that usually takes 2 hours into a 14.5 hour trip. We were fortunate to have made reservations and had rooms waiting unlike many who had not planned a stop there. The Econo staff tried to find rooms at other motels but THERE WERE NO ROOMS TO BE HAD.. The Econo staff did not skip a beat they gave coffee, tea, hot cholate to weary travelors in need of a touch of kindness. They also gave out blankets and pillows and let people stay in their meeting room at no charge. We arrived at 6AM were greeted with a warm smile and , shown every courtecy although they had been throught a tough time as well. We witnessed the spirit of Christmas in action..

After being stranded overnight in a snowstorm on the WV turnpike we were treated like family by an incredible staff despite the fact that they were deluged with people seeking rooms when none were available. While other motels at this exit locked their front doors, the Econo Lodge opened conference rooms, breakfast rooms and their lobby to provide families with shelter from the storm. I don't know how much money they spent providing free coffee and food to people who weren't even paying guests, but it had to be significant. We did get a room, which was clean and well-appointed. Can't rate them highly enough and will definitely stay there again and again!

I recently traveled to West Virginia for a family Christmas celebration only to get caught in a winter storm that left many people stranded on the interstate for 12 to 20 hours. I was fortunate to have a room reserved at the Econo Lodge in Beckley and when my family and I arrived at 6:00 in the morning after a long night in the car they had saved our room. The next morning over breakfast I heard a woman saying they had been to three motels off the turnpike asking if they could just stay in the lobby after finding there were no rooms, they were denied, turned away. At the Econo Lodge they were told they had no rooms but offered blankets and pillows so they could rest in the meeting room. The woman was so touched by the generous nature of the staff, saying how grateful her family was to have a place out of the cold and a bathroom, they could use after spending 20 hours in their car!! They were not turned away, but instead given a place of shelter, this is the true spirit of Christmas!! What a blessing to find places like this that really care about the stranger in their midst! Thank you staff of Econo Lodge it is nice to know there are people with such hearts. By the way this is BY FAR the nicest Econo Lodge I have ever stayed at, and if there is a question as to the friendliness of the staff, you need to read the review again!! FIVE STARS AND MORE!!!!

After a long drive from Canada we chose this motel on the basis of the coupon description (pick up the coupon books at the State Welcome Center-great savings)
The exterior of the back units was a bit off-putting but it's obviously being upgraded. Our room on the 3rd floor was totally immaculate, in perfect condition, spacious & well equipped: fridge, microwave, hair dryer, iron & board, high speed, huge TV, etc. etc. No extra charge for our cat. And because we were next to the cemetery, it was dead quiet (!) so we had a great sleep.
Staff were very friendly & helpful. Breakfast was hot, fresh, and relatively good quality (considering that we are used to eating mostly organic, whole grain food)
Definitely will stay here on another trip.

this was recommended by AAA. I was not impressed. The elevator ground and cranked so much as though it might finally give up - with me in it- I used the stairs to the third floor the whole time I was there. It was an odd place - falling apart, under construction, shabby & much used. Some people let their dogs pee on the third floor landing. The concrete walkways outside the rooms were tilted at an downward angle toward the parking lot. This must be an OLD place.
Many dogs. The rooms were clean, but the carpets were soiled. The breakfast was one of the poorest I've experienced in my travels. If you have a pet, this is a good place, but I would not call it great by any means. It houses a ton of guests and the parking lot and lobby were full of people and children and activity. It felt friendly, but crowded.
