We stayed here Aug 23. The occasion was dinner for a good friend's retirement party. We stayed in the Sunrise room in the annex and was a delight. Breakfast was awesome, a havarti cheese and chive omlett and figs with a balsamic reduction.
The pool area was nice and good balance with sun and shade. It is so quiet there, in a pastoral setting.
Dinner was a whole another matter. 11 on a 1-10 scale.

I began frequenting this place when it first opened and I lived in the area, although back then I just went for fabulous dinners on special occasions. It has since grown but the service and charm are still there, as well as great food. This is located a little outside Yakima in the heart of the agricultural area which adds its own interest. The service is laid back and the staff very helpful for those who are not familiar with the area. I highly recommend the salmon in pastry for dinner!

We stayed at the Birchfield Manor based on the ratings in Fodor's and we definitely were not disappointed. We were visiting wine country in the Yakima area, and wanted to stay close, but not in town. This was a great decision. We stayed in the Sunset Cottage and it was lovely. The highlight, was the wonderful breakfasts served by one of the owners, Brad. What a treat to be able to have breakfast in your cottage in your jammies, when you wanted it. The owner was extremely hospitable and helpful. This was one of our best B&B experiences, and we plan to be back next year. We missed the opportunity to enjoy their dinners, as we were staying on days dinner was not served at the Manor, but we got a recommendation for great restaurants in town. These folks know hospitality.

Stayed in the guest cottage, room was large and clean enough, hot tub is a nice touch. Small balcony to overlook the surrounding fields. Quiet and restful at the property. It is a bit of a drive to Yakima downtown. Breakfast the next morning was served at one sitting time only, everyone sat at long tables together and food was served at once. Food was fine. As it was a rural location we were hoping for more areas to walk around, but the actual property grounds are quite small from what we experienced. For those with kids, note their website says they "are not suitable for children under 8".
