“A good stop along the highway”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 12, 2012

We've stayed at the Oxford Inn over many years and management/name changes. Although it's become a little shabby over the years - stained carpets, rickety outdoor furniture - its location along the Yakima river walk is great. We enjoy hearing the river rushing past the motel and walking along the paved pathway to the Yakima Arboretum. The rooms have small balconies overlooking the walk and it's pleasant to sit with your morning coffee listening to the river and watching the birds. The room was clean, the linens spotless, the bathroom small but adequate. The orange-scented lotions/amenities were very nice.

The continental breakfast was typical of this kind of motel - waffles, cold cereal, toast, bagels + cream cheese, yogurt + canned fruit. While staying in the Yakima Valley - one of the loveliest fruit growing areas in the country - it would be nice to have good fresh fruit!

The staff were helpful and efficient; checking in/out swift and professional.

I wouldn't make this a vacation destination, but it's a great stop while travelling through the valley.

We checked into the hotel a little early and found our room to be on the top floor with a small balcony overlooking the Yakima River. Loved watching the rushing water and the bald eagle circling overhead. The room was clean and inviting and the orange-scented soaps and lotions were terrific. The king size bed was comfortable and we slept with the sliding door open so that we could be lulled by the sounds of the river. The bathroom which consisted of the toilet and a walk in shower were a little disappointing and seemed a bit tired. The lighting was dull and the room seemed dark. The breakfast the next morning hit the spot and the staff couldn't have been nicer. We will definately be back!!

Room Tip: get a top floor room!

I was unaware this was prespring barrel tasting in Rattlesnake Hills this weekend and had reserved a two bed suite for Friday. The Inn was booked and no other two bed suites were available for Saturday night. Clemencia was extremely helpful finding us another room and made it as seamless transition from one room to the next. In fact she arranged for another room to be available Saturday morning, called us when it was ready, and was courteous and helpful throughout the process. Very customer centered employee!

We have stayed in both the Oxford Inn and Oxford Suites in Yakima. Every time we have been impressed by the friendliness of the staff, the cleanliness of the rooms, and the location next to the river with easy access to downtown and the freeway. The beds were new, sheets, towels and blankets clean and comfortable. The Oxford Inn is a bit older but every attempt is made to keep it up to date and attractive.

Yes, staff is friendly and helpful, but the hotel didn't live up to the on-line reputation. The corridors were stained, and the hotel had a very tired look. The room was small and ordinary, but the ecological soaps and lotions are a definite plus! The bathroom is miniscule and the fan did not work. The included breakfast was very sad - only cold hard-boiled eggs, artificially-sweetened yogurt and terrible apples - especially in the state of Washington! The waffles were okay, though.
Perfect location for easy on/off Interstate 5.

Prior stays, along with this recent one, resulted in the same level of satisfaction....great!
The staff is friendly and helpful; their attitude indicates to me that they like working at this facility. The facility is clean in all areas and presents itself well. I utilize the paved trail right out back, which is in great shape, adjacent to the river, and a great length, leading to other areas one might wish to go to. Affordability is key and this facility meets it. It is easy to find and access.

Room Tip: All rooms have a great view, as they face northerly, overlooking the trail and river. As in most hot...
