“Wonderful Birthday memories”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 22, 2013

I waited a few days to write this review because I needed to find the words to describe the experience.
We stayed one night at CHM for our combined birthday week-end for my fiancé' and I.
Breathtaking describes the beautiful views and the entire facility. Being from this area and traversing the highway numerous times, until we stayed at CHM I never appreciated the beauty of the landscape, and where CHM is located, the views are stunning.
Exquisite yet tasteful and warm describes the interior décor of the public areas. Once you arrive, you feel welcome and at home. It just has that an aura that you feel comfortable in.
Decadent best describes the room. We stayed in the German room and it was over the top. From the very comfy king bed, jetted tub, walk in shower, small loft, balcony overlooking the orchards. The fresh red rose on the bed with a hand written welcome note, plush robes and towels, chocolates everything was wonderful.
Fun is something to be had. From the game and theater room downstairs with popcorn and coffee, large selection of movies, pool, hot tub, fire pit with pre-made Smore’s kits to the treasure hunt. In your room there is a CHM game card, like bingo and one of the squares is “Find the Romance”. It is a secret item hidden in your room. The clue to the item is somewhere in the common areas of the mansion. It was fun looking for the clue then looking for the item in our room. We had a fun time searching and well we discovered each other in the process.
Romance is a huge aspect of your stay here and CHM staff makes sure you have a wonderful romantic stay.
Culinary delight describes the dinner and breakfast we had. Nathan the chef fro our dinner was great. He is very personable, likable and you can tell, taste that he makes every meal with love. The food was amazing and the portions were well more than one would expect and in some cases eat. Chelsea was the Chef for breakfast and she was just a sweetheart. The food was great, the atmosphere wonderful, what a great way to start your day.
In closing, Alan and Deanne Fielding have gone out of their way to create a B&B that has some many little touches that one would not expect. They are two of the most pleasant and charming people you will meet. We loved our experience so much we have made reservations for two nights next year.
The only things I had to say were laees than perfeect are:
Downstairs is a refridgeerator with pop, juices, cold coffee's and ice cream and they charge for these. It is a honor system but they charge a small fee. I have stayed at other B&B's costing less and these items were free. With only 7 rooms one woudl think these items are provided.
Sleep Quality - My fiance slept great but for me the bed was too soft for me.
Room Keys - you get actual metal keys on a large keychain thing. As long as you have a purse or similar to store he key when away from the CHM, at least for guys it is too big to carry in pockets.

Room Tip: German Room overlooks the front entrance and is on the west side of the house. The normal wind direc...

We appreciate so much your thorough and enthusiastic review. That was great! However our focus here is always upon what we can do better. In your case, there were two things. Free refrigerated snacks and a firmer mattress.

First the mattress: We have selected the best mattresses money can buy but every person has a different need in a mattress. Many people have loved the mattress and even email us for the specifications. Your husband apparently loved it but you didn't find it firm enough. For your ultimate comfort, may we suggest you select the Asian suite on your next visit. It has an all latex mattress with no pillow top which some people with sensitive backs, find that it gives them better back support.

Secondly, the refrigerated snacks. All snacks, not refrigerated are already free and the drinks and ice cream in the refrigerator and freezer were free for the first two years. The challenge we experienced were two fold:
1. Some guests stocked up their cooler on the way home because of the sense that all of it was free.
2. There were pop cans and bottles, half drunk, all over the place. Putting a small price on them has the marvelous magic of cleaning up all the wasteful and annoying clutter.

But reading your comments have driven us to the conclusion that maybe another approach is needed. So this is our response: We are going to issue 4 tokens per room which can be redeemed for refrigerated snacks or ice cream. If they need or want more than they have tokens for, they can always use the honor code and put the money in the jewelry box as we do now. We are now looking for the right kind of token and will implement this in the next week or so.

Our experience was so much more than expected and we expected a lot. We expected good hospitality, some relaxation, some good food, a beautiful room.... but it was so much MORE! As I try to write this review and tell you how wonderful it was, I am finding it hard because you will really never know unless you experience it yourself. If you have read the other reviews, they say it all - romantic, relaxing, first rate service, and delicious food. But it was more than that...all these things and more added up to an experience that we have never had before (and we just celebrated our 26th anniversary). We highly, highly recommend a stay at Cameo Heights so you too can experience how truly great it is.

We absolutely loved our night in the Italian Suite. Everything we could have desired was provided, and the room was incredibly clean and beautiful. We appreciated the fun little touches, like a BINGO game of fun/romantic activities, a treasure hunt for the "romance" hidden in the room, and the warm friendliness of both Alan and Deanne throughout our stay. Our dinner at the Vine was amazing and we loved that the chef came out to the table to introduce the courses. Overall, we would highly recommend Cameo Heights to others, and hope to be able to stay again!

The location, building, and service was excellent. Will recommend it to all of our friends. We had one of the most restful nights sleep with an excellent view of the sun coming over the top of the mountains. The meal was one of the best we've shared with their excellent chef bringing out specialties to us each step of the meal. A very unique home with the owners concerned about every detail.

Room Tip: Rooms on the east side have great views.

This was our second time to Cameo Heights in two years. The first time we stayed in the French Suite and this last time in the Italian Suite. For some reason we tend to go around March so we haven't been able to use the pool, campfire or soaking pool, but the jetted tub in the room was great! Deanne & Alan think of everything from bubble bathes to dimmly lit rooms for added romance. Dinner was wonderful. Chef Nathan was great and was quick to react when my pork chop was a little dry. He fixed another with no hesitation and it was WONDERFUL! We ended up taking the dessert up to our room and there was no problem with that. We would like to love to have a daughter and her husband experience the wonderful time that we always have at Cameo Heights. We have had so much stress lately that being able to relax and be pampered was just what the doctor ordered. Thank you so much Alan & Deanne!

A stay at Cameo Heights mansion is not anywhere near the typical Bed and Breakfast. The grounds are stunning, the rooms are private sanctuaries of their own. You always feel pampered. The owners greet you with the professionalism and service typical of a 5 star resort. You'll feel very welcome. My stay was made special by the attention to detail. I am super picky and a clean freak, so I appreciated how spotless everything was. The restaurant, yes, a full gourmet restaurant is part of the mansion, was awesome. You get to interact with the chef as he prepares your meals. Food and atmosphere are great. The owners are always around interacting with you but giving you privacy as well. I stayed in the "Spanish Suite" and its unreal! The linens are exquisite, the air jetted tub is huge, the walk in shower is an experience in itself. I kept wondering, how do they do it? Go visit this mansion. It's great!

Wow! Thank you for your very kind review. The secret to any success we have had is careful listening to our guests and their expectations. Executing the suggestions that come from guests as they leave has helped us immensely to hone in on the expectations of future guests. We are very gratified when guests leave with the comment that we have thought of everything. Really we have just listened and responded to you our guests.

We were able to escape our children and spend a wonderful evening pampered at Cameo Heights! We stayed in the French Room and the attention to detail is beyond compare. Deanne and Alan go out of their way to make sure everything is perfect... Chef Nathan Carlson is very personable and wow does he know how to cook. We had the lobster and prime rib and both were cooked to perfection. The desserts were out of this world! If you are looking for a romantic, friendly, and fun place to stay that is far enough out of town to feel like you are "away" this is the place to go!
