“Worth an hour of your time - not expensive”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2011

We are major Chihuly fans and since his workshop isn't open to the public the next best is the Tacoma Museum of Glass. There isn't much to see at all in terms of exhibits and little of this is by Chihuly. But we sat in on a demonstration in the hot shop of a local artist making glass designs - it was fascinating. The Chihuly Bridge of Glass that you have to cross to access the Museum of Glass is more than worth the effort. Afterwards walk around the museum by the waterside - the setting is excellent at least on a cloudless sunny day which is what we had. And all this for $12 per person - certainly worthwhile. Parking around the museum is epensive so we recommend free parking at Tacoma Dome and then take the Tacoma Light Rail Link. When we got there about midday the Dome carpark was full but after driving around for 10 minutes we found free street parking in a downtown sidestreet a mile from the Musuem.

“Please save your time and money.”

We were very unimpressed and felt the staff/volunteers were terrible. We won't be back and encourage others to not waste their time/money.

“Worth a visit”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 13, 2011

My wife and I really enjoyed this visit to the museum. they have on going demonstrations of glass blowing with visiting artists. The children's museum is entertaining as it features glass sculptures that children designed by submitting their drawings.
Not to be dismissed is the bridge (free) that features grass sculptures and a ceiling of glass art.

“Interesting and unique exhibition in great setting...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 29, 2011

I have been to many glass museums and this was excellent. Interesting exhibition and live demonstrations by guest glass artists.... not your every day works of art. Fascinating exhibition of objects based on children's designs. Spectacular crystal "forest in ice" exhibition through June 2011.

Lots of Chihully pieces on the Bridge of Glass nearby which is free.

Cafe.

“Very enjoyable”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 30, 2011

First of all, the architecture of the museum is quite striking. The exhibits are extremely interesting yet not as many as I had expected. I would have liked to see more Chihuly (did not have time to go to the Tacoma Museum of Art where most of it is). The kiln like structure with live glass blowing is extremely interesting, the bridge of glass is a must see and the shop is very well stocked with beautiful glass, many local artists, has a good book and children's selection with a good price range from tiny souvenirs to very costly pieces.
