“Reasonable for a short stay”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 days ago NEW

Stayed here for a night on my way to Montana. the place has kind of a historic feel to it. The rooms were reasonably comfy. For the price we paid, we couldn't complain much.
The parking around the area is limited, so that may be a concern to some.

When looking online for a hotel in Spokane, we came across Montvale Hotel. The pictures made the place look very clean which was important to us with a three month old baby with breathing problems. We arrived to the hotel only to find out that the advertising was very far off from the atmosphere, cleanliness, and hospitality that was portrayed online. The carpets were very soiled, the floors in the lobby needed to be swept, the walls had holes, there was terrible patch work done on some of the holes, cobwebs, stained linens, baseboards were covered in dirt, layers of dust on the blinds, and much more. We immediately knew that we could not stay especially with our baby. After convincing, the front desk attendant agreed to go get her manager Bonnie to speak to us about a refund. The front desk attendant came back alone and said the manager would not speak to us and the only thing they would do is put clean sheets on the bed. The booking agency also tried to call the hotel but Bonnie also refused to speak with them. We decided it was in our best interest to walk away. When we went to leave, the staff refused to check us out. We received eye rolls and attitude from the front desk attendant and the manager Bonnie. We are still out the $423.88 we paid for the room and parking. We are appalled that this hotel can still be in business and that they can get away with treating their customers so poorly.

We booked this hotel through Hotwire! What a gem! The hotel was very clean. The rooms were spacious... Including the bathroom! We love all of the art and furniture in the main rooms. Classy and sophisticated! Abbey at the front desk was very helpful. We will definitely stay here again if in Spokane! Thank you for a great stay and comfy bed!

This is my second time staying at the Montvale and everytime I stay here it gets better. The staff was very accommodating and our room was very clean(the presidential is breath taking). I also noticed that our room had newer pillows from the last time we stayed(the last they were kind of let say lumpy). I love how it is to all the downtown shopping and the coffee service on the second floor. Although the WiFi can be a pit of a pain. I would I highly recommend the Montvale.

Room Tip: If you want a quieter room. Request a room on first ave.

The Montvale Hotel in Spokane, Washington, is one of those hotels if you are lucky enough to know about it, you are in for a wonderful surprise. The Montvale is like no other hotel I have stayed in. I thought at first I was in Europe as the flair of the place as well as the décor, was absolutely European. The layout of the rooms on the various floors leads one to believe they are the only ones staying in the hotel, as they are spaced beautifully on the various floors, with books everywhere that offer the décor of a library or stay more than a hotel. It is in a very convenient location and one can walk anywhere they want to go. Downtown Spokane has emerged from a quiet little farming community to one of the hippest cities I have seen in some time. There is much to do and see in this wonderful place and the food everywhere is excellent.
I have been to the famed Davenport Hotel which is just down the street, and I like it as well, but The Montvale made me feel special as the environs are not as stuffy and left me feeling like I was visiting someone's home instead of a hotel. The price was very good and the service was excellent. I am definitely heading back to The Montvale in the not too distant future and I hope to see you there!

My husband and I just returned from a two night stay at the Montvale. We were disappointed. The room had stained fabric on the chair and soiled carpeting. You could hear bed noise and foot steps from the room above, due to squeaky floors and an old building. The second floor lobby was a nice place to gather.

Room Tip: choose one away from street noise

Terrible location; no amenities; unprofessional help; noisy; broken down furniture (just because it's old doesn't make it classy!); run down neighborhood; bad parking.

It is 90% of the reason I will never return to Spokane. Ugly place, ugly people. Apparently the "decent" people climb up to the "skywalk" to get away from places like the Montvale.

In Europe this would be a 1 or 2 star tourist trap. In fact the word Hotel is misleading--hostal would be a better fit for the service and lack of quality and amenities. How about a 14" TV! And 1/3 of the channels were blocked, including HBO, the only premium channel--inspite of their advertisement about having premium channels!

Then to top it off at check out they had the gall to charge an additional fee because the rate I paid through Hotel.com "didn't match their rates!" Crooks!

Room Tip: DON'T waste your time here!! It's just BAD waiting to get WORSE!
