“Best Chinese cuisine in a while...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 29, 2014

Another great hole in the wall and it's more than what we expected. Definitely be coming back and this will be our new "Chinese restaurant" fave.
It was also a plus that our waitress knew the menu quite well and even suggested a few dishes just so we can get a variety to try. I'm impressed :)

“Finally, a great place for Chinese Cuisine!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 20, 2014

After trying many places, we have finally found one that is a cut above. A small, welcoming restaurant with friendly, knowledgeable staff. This is not your ordinary, off the rack, fast food establishment. This is for individuals who will enjoy what they offer, as there are no substitutions but that works out quite well. The chef really understands the cuisine and his work is proof of that. The menu is in sections, mild, medium or hot. Hot is hot - and great if you like it. But be warned ahead. If not sure, go for medium! Enjoy it - I know all we recommended the restaurant to did!

“Friday Nicht Sichuan”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 12, 2014

Nice evening, impressive food, even if not quite as Asian as expected (but look at the name...). Friends recommended it, but also had the key landmarks: behind the strip mall across from Manito Tap House and behind The Chalet. Worth the adventure in the search.

“Weird”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 30, 2014

I read the reviews. Figured we has to try it. It is a small hole in the wall that was not easy to find. Very warm inside. Went in at 320pm. We were the only ones in there. Nobody is Chinese. There is no resemblance that you are even in a Chinese restaurant except the wooden chopsticks sitting on bowls on all the tables. They serve the food family style. When the waitress took our order she asked us if we wanted hot tea. We did and was not told it didn't come with the meal. We ordered soup. Yes, costs extra. We ordered the Mongolian beef and sweet and sour pork. Rice? You guessed it, extra. Soup came in a very small cup for 2.50. A little salty but ok. Then came the meal. Very small portions. We asked for soy sauce. She came back with a very small amount in a little tiny dipping container. When we asked the waitress why there wasn't soy sauce on each table she said that the food didn't need it and most people don't ask for it. The waitress was nice but seemed to be a little defensive. Food was good but I don't think it is worth all the hype and all the weirdness. $34.50 for two. No drinks. Oh, except for the non free hot tea.

“Will drive two hours to eat here”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 15, 2014

Recommended by a friend, this restaurant was not one we would have seen from the road and gone in to eat. It is in a storefront in a small mall. We were there at 2 in the afternoon, and there was no one else in the small, plain dining room. The waitress was able to help us work through the rich menu, though she did not give her opinion about our choices until we had settled on what we wanted. The food was extraordinary, really. We had expected the food at this hour to be less than fresh. We were wrong. It took a while to get our food, but the wait for the freshly cooked meal was worth it. For the two of us, we had an appetizer and two entrees to share. We took home leftovers that were ample for another meal. We live two hours away from Gordy's. We agreed that the food is so good that we will drive round trip for the four hours it will take to travel for another meal at Gordy's.
